ZMA - awful snoring?

Postby upright on Tue Nov 04, 2008 10:03 pm

Have recently started snoring like a total pig, am aware of it as I'm dropping off and think it might be waking me up - besides my missus digging me and telling me to shut the feck up!

This coincides with 2 things: starting ZMA and sopping smoking. Anybody else have an account of this as a side effect of using ZMA? It could be that it's actually making my sleep worse :o

I'm up at 5am every day and I'm up like a flash - no grogginess really, except weekends when I get more than 5-6hrs sleep! lol.

I think the quitting smoking is likely to have more of an effect - less pressure on respiratory system, vocal cords, throat, blood vessels etc...

I did used to snore like a monster as a kid (before smoking).

I too am up in flash - have only one hour to get ZMA in, wait for it to go in, sling down a breakfast and do the school run so no time to feck about. But on first waking and taking a pee - I'm like shaun of the dead. Bloody awful feeling but as I head downstairs it soon lifts.

I guess I'll find out when the ZMA runs out...

I take it before bed usually.

I guess the snoring could be attributed to you sleeping more deeply? I know a lot of ex smokers (me being one of them) that started to snore for the first year or so after giving up - so that's why I suggested it could be related to your smoking... but obviously I couldn't be sure :D

When you quit smoking all the crap in your lungs starts to come out.....this can result in snoring.

Suppose I might as well tell you this now. Smoking, well nicotine, constricts blood vessels. Once you stop they start to return to normal. When I quit I had the most terrible nose bleeds for a while. :D
