Man you are having a sucky time of it of late. Reduced to cardio as a means of release - that stinks! Good luck with your recovery.

A small update.
toe is still a joke. cant walk any serious distance on this. going to get an appointment with someone to check it over as this cant be right.

forearm - been using my hand as normal as possible since taking the strap off. been a few niggles but not resorted to re applying the strap or taking any pain killers.
the other day i tried a few pressups on knuckles. this was a big test as its quite a weight on the wrist however it was in a neutral position so not stretching the tendon. these went ok.
last night, tried some normal pressups (hands flat on floor), other than being supremely weak there was no pain. stopped at 20 (had feet elevated on bed as cant do pressups with toes on the floor (damn toe!) just ot make sure.

tonight im going to try a few sets of 20, see if i can get to 100 with no pain. if its all good then i should be ok to go back and do some machine work.

didnt have anything heavy to hand to try a static hold though, so that will be another test to do.

Summary:
Toe: pissing me right off
Forearm: looking good, going to continue taking it steady though

I feel for ya dude. Fucking poxy litle thing like a toe can stop you dead in your tracks - It's like getting a shitty cold, no gonna die from it but still disables you. Glad your arm is better though, you can afford a few weeks off, at your size it's not gonna do any real damage. Maybe a time to work on other areas of training like diet and stuff, read some of these interesting papers guys post up on here... Not the same but still productive.

I really feel for you. Lower limb injuries are an absolute swine to deal with as they interfer so much with everything you want to do.

But, look on the bright side. You haven't lost your toe. Then you really would be in a mess. Did you know if you cut someone's big toes off they can no longer walk because the stabilising influence of the big toes is a big part of being able to balance. Before you ask, no I haven't tried this, just played around with some biomechanical stress/strain models

The loss of big toe and balance thing is interesting. After all my operations on toes and now this injury, ive quickly learned to change how I walk so that i put no pressure on it. this does have a knock on effect on the rest of my foot and also my calf muscles though (and after a longer walk also my thighs).

how different is the loss of the toe to not being able to use it?

And thanks for the sympathy :D
Its about time i let someone else be sympathetic for me as this comfort eating is not good for me hehe :D

Sorry to learn that your toe is still painful - off to the docs young man.

The writs, needs rest, no curls etc., just lighter weights and higher reps.

yeah, staying away from curls for sure. lower weight and higher reps will allow me to have a better grip on the bar / handle.

As much as i could start putting good pressure on it, im not a competitor, im not doing it for anything other than me, so having a major injury would be bad for my home life and its not worth it :D

gonna be in the gym 4 mornings a week next week, on bike / cross trainer, start dropping some fat, always a good thing :D
