What's everyone doing for Halloween then?

Postby Spit on Thu Oct 30, 2008 12:06 pm

I'm big on Halloween, it's a good opportunity to have a party without the religious baggage of Christmas (not that I'm against religious holidays per se, but Xmas is a funny old parody of itself these days, whereas Halloween just lets you dress up like a twat and get pissed).

When I lived in Canada they were mad on Halloween, everyone looked forward to it for a long time beforehand and made a lot of effort with their costumes. Back then I wet-shaved my head and dressed as Uncle Fester; good at the time but when the temp dropped to -27 a week or so later I definitely noticed it!

This year one of my old housemates is having a party up in Sheffield so we're going to drive up there after work on Friday, drink a load of Thatcher's Gold and try to seduce some (oxymoron alert) hot Northern women; this might be hard work seeing as I'll be dressed as Alan Partridge dressed as a zombie, but I'm prepared to martyr myself to the cause.

What are you lot planning?

I'm heading back to Bristol actually... Friday night's probably going to be a quiet one but got a big party planned for my old flatmate's birthday on Saturday. Halloween is fun but it's just another party :)

You say that like it's a bad thing! I'm sorry I won't be in town on Fri actually, some of my lady friends are headed to the Full Moon dressed as burlesque vampires and I quite wanted to be around to, erm, supervise... :?

Just don't go mouthing off to their grandparents after you've boned them. Apparently it's frowned upon :)

Used to see a girl that worked at the full moon - blonde curly hair, about 5'4". Great at giving head :P

Sod all as it really doesn't interest me at all.

Neither does Christmas, though it is a nice opportunity to get together with family.

Poop - getting together with family sucks - well mine do anyways. Halloween is ace, get a pumpkin carved you borejoy. I don't mind people not being up for halloween - don't undestand it but it's pikeys that knock my door in hoody and scream mask that piss me off - I feel like saying "Fuck all for effort and one for ye cheek" and banging em off the step...

I'll be taking the kids begging in thier costumes and then back to ours for a bit of a buffet spread with yummy odd looking foods.

hehe, I have no artistic talent, and I have better things to do than to make a mess of carving up a pumpkin :p

I don't mind people having a laugh, it's great, it just serves no appeal to me. Maybe I don't "get it"? I don't have kids or have any friends with kids so that's perhaps another reason. It never particularly enjoyed it as a kid myself. Yes I'm a boring sod :p

However I do like getting together with family and friends, lots! However I've never used Halloween as an excuse for doing it.

This thread is specific to Halloween though, will you be doing anything to mark the occasion?
