Viagra?

Viagra obviously gives you a boner, but would it boost test levels?

Cheers!

Viagra isn't a test booster. It's a treatment for erectile dysfunction and works by increasing blood flow into the love truncheon :D

Simple as is - no. It increases blood flow so it has no effect on T. It can be used by endurance athletes to increase white blood cell count, as it can to increase your pump in the gym however not to inrease T.

Also it gives you really, really bad headaches for about 6hours afterward. so unless you really need help (ya know....doing the dirty) then I'd forget about it

Never gave me headaches or blocked nose, just a good ol' stiffy for 4 hours.
If you're not sure if you're getting quality sleep or not, this is your standard: You should always wake up under a teepee. If you don't have a boner so solid you have to do a handstand to take a morning piss, your Testosterone levels are probably low.

Viagra is also extremely useful for treating altitude sickess as the vasodilatory effect of capillaries also occurs in the lungs resulting in increased oxygen uptake at lower partial pressures and gives you the energy to climb the damn mountain too

I bet that is what viagra was invented for in the first place.. but some guy complained about getting a hard-on while his tits were freezing off half way up a mountain.

No actually (although it's an entertaining mental image considering some of the mountaineers I know ;) ) this in an incidental effect of viagra, rather like ecstasy being developed as a diet aid, but obviously never released as one due to its ability to induce euphoria (hence the name) and anorexia. I have seen the effects of viagra on altitude sickness and it is quite amazing the improvement in physiological tolerance to lower levels of oxgyen and reduced side effects of altitude sickness.

That makes perfect sense too. For altitude you take smaller doses more frequently throughout the day rather than the large one if you need a boost in bedroom gymnastics

I wonder in small doses whether it could potentially increase CV capacity?

I would say yes, without a doubt.

Let me dig up the study I was part of. Side effects included increased energy levels. I mean literally bouncing out of bed at 5000m and deciding to hike to next peak straight after breakfast while others would just about manage to drag themselves out of their sleeping bags and attempt to eat without puking.

Would be awesome, but get the dose wrong and you would be overstimulated. I'll look for the study when I finish work :D

Curt, can we be a little less patronising?

Besides, MJ has you licked in the looks department ;)

Is that the cover story they use? A male and female colleage go into the mountains to 'look at the effects of Viagra on altitude sickness'.. surely 1kg of the stuft, 1 week of work and lots and lots of lube was just a precaution

MJ I was planning to tell Curt to stop being patronising for his comment to you. Instead however, I am going to tell you to grow up.

Ok, I'll try and control my self a bit more. My apologeze.

Mocking my work = flaming for everyone. Unless you have an appreciation of how much F-ing any scientific study requires belittling it will be unappreciated. Especially as I am stuck at work doing experiments on glorious sunny Sunday afternoon :x
