Yeh they are quite sick.
I always find that these fatigue me far more than any other plyo exercise and coz I have got a sprint session in later I decided against including these.

Smart move. :)

Have you considered adding resistance bands to your plyo training? I've seen some very interesting looking exercises on youtube I can try to dig up for ya...?

Ooooh! It does indeed look fun. When I can afford bands......

Looks like it's very important to keep form - They all stop when form started to go even though no doubt they could have pushed on!

Gym wise though I have just finished a 6 week strength cycle with some very satisfying results.

Squat X 1 = 170kg PB (new PB by 20kg)
Deadlift X 1 = 210kg (new PB by 30kg)

Standing Long Jump 3m 8cm (new PB by 4cm)
30m Sprint= 3.98 secs

I have got GB trials in 2 weeks and my current form would stand me in good stead for the World Cup 2 team which would be great but we shall wait and see! Fingers crossed!

very nice!!!!

thats a very big standing long jump aswell, foook!

What about medicine balls CDV?

Just brainstorming here really, but wouldn't medicine ball throws be good for you? Standing with the ball, squatting down a bit, then throwing it as high in the air as possbile (then run, duck and hide :D).

Thanks Ash! I'm pleased with how far I can jump.

Sounds like fun Rilla, would the throw be aided by a jump? So it is kind of a jump throw squat?

Have had a very light week so far just trying to get fatigue free, saw the physio got loosened off, had a sports massage to clear my legs.

Did a jump session on Tuesday to keep the CNS fired and to work the explosive power.
30m Sprints session with Karlos just to prepare for the trials, best time was 4.02 (not too bad as the timing system is different in Bath so should see that come down by a tenth....hopefully).

Well shall let you all know how it goes on Saturday, went down and did a few pushes last week and was 100th of a second off the squad qualifying time, which was pleasing as it was my first go! Just hoping I can improve on this which will guarantee my place.

Good luck, tho remember it's not luck that has got you this far but a damn hard work. If nothing else I think you have the mental attitude necessary.

Well I am back from Bath.

My times were:

Bobsleigh Push Start= Required time 3.80 My time= 3.76

30m sprint= Required time 3.90 My time= 3.90

Standing Long Jump= Required Distance 2m70cm My distance= 3.04

So I was overall the best on the day as both my push and jump were the best. Very happy I just nicked the 30m sprint as that is my biggest weakness due to my lack of running technique.
So I am very pleased indeed as I am now officially on the Bobsleigh development programme and will be racing on the circuit come winter!

Thanks for all your support and nice posts!

Well done mate, you performed well all round - great standing long jump, & you should get coaching to bring up anything you feel you're a bit weak on now you're on the programme?
