Yeah i must admit, when i went low carb i got pumps too - big ones on the 15 rep weeks of HST. Was taking fast carbs pre as well though so, if carbs are indeed a factor, maybe a feed of them pre is enough.

BCAAs are insulinic too so they might well make a difference.

Remember that I created this thread about those trying to get a pump from training; and in the belief that it will help their progress. I know that we all get pumped from training.

I think a lot of these ideas / training methods etc are just myth that sound good. Sure, it's better than not training at all. But is it really that effective??

A little like a certain Doctors ideas?

Why are Chavs like slinkies? They have no real use but it's great to watch one fall down a flight of stairs.

but then in that case it does - but only if you train correctly......if you go in doing countless sets with the intention of ONLY the pump then its useless Id say

There has to be some benefit from filling a worked muscle group with blood towards the end of a session simply for transportation purposes, both nutrients into the muscle and toxins away from.

I would be interested to see what 5 mins at the end of a training session of pump and stretch set combinations would achieve.

I agree. I think it does have benefits. If you have time in a 45min session to do that then go for it. For the vast majority of the year I think it's more effective to get another set or two out with a heavy ass weight (for desired rep range).
