The greatest poser ever?

Postby Resurrected on Sat Aug 15, 2009 1:26 pm

Well possibly after our very own Alex

Ed Corney - was reknowned for his posing. Some of you have probably never heard of him, although he was in Pumping Iron. Here is a clip of him in 1996 when he was 63 years old http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ33zLKciQc and another back in 1983 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL5X55-5 ... re=related .

IMO he was utter perfection.

Why are Chavs like slinkies? They have no real use but it's great to watch one fall down a flight of stairs.

Apart from the posers on this very board I'd say the only one (who I've seen) whose posing matches up to Ed Corney is Mohamed Makkawy - Makkawy 1984 Olympia.

Both knew how to move with fluidity and even make the transitions between their poses show off the muscle well.

Det,

the 84 Olympia was the first one I bought on video. I remember it cost a bloody fortune. They were about £30-40 each back then I seem to remember. The the wife (at the time) bought me Lee Haneys video for Xmas.

I have very limited experience of BB competitions . However from what I have seen on the net and at the Bodypower expo , the posing is a pretty boring affair .

Kai Greene is good to watch as you find yourself wondering " whats he going to do next ?" but I wouldnt say he was the best as he doesnt really show his physique at its best .

Melvin Anthony body pops/limbo's and again I dont think it keeps you interested or shows his physique .

Sergio/Yates/Mohammad/Zane - perhaps not who spring to mind when thinking about posing but to me they posed in a style that was appropriate for their physiques and shows them off perfectly , something which Kai and Melvin seem not have grasped. It was this showing of their strengths that kept your attention
That for me is the art of posing .

Agree with you Piggy.

Know Corney's name but hadn't seen him before. Looked amazing at 63.

Corney is awesome. Was a Vegas club owner if I remember correctly.

The Mr Universe at the time of Pumping Iron was also a great poser but forget who it was and wasn't Ken Waller.

Can remember being in my late teens and just getting into training. The only pro's i'd ever seen were in mags like Flex and Musclemag... then one day i cycled all the way to the Weider store in Bristol (35 mile round trip, lol) just to get some protein powder... and Basil Francis was there! He was fecking huge and a real nice guy... so badly wanted to buy some training videos there and then but as you say they cost a fortune.

God bless the internet and sites like youtube... makes stuff so accesible nowadays.
