Spec is pretty much meaningless though unless you want to play top trumps with it.

The Samsung looks good http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac ... ory=903835" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I hate Blackberries - horrid things to use.

the new samsung is a Ipad killer - so much so that youve seen Apple launch the Legal war to have there sales stopped in the US. Its an amazing bit of kit but its not out in the UK yet -

http://news.cnet.com/8301-27076_3-20076 ... es-in-u.s/

the fact that alot of the main review sites are calling the new samsung the "best tablet" - are making apple a little too itch fingered. They lost there handset popularity to HTC last year, and this year they could lose major ground in teh tablet space.

As far as Ipad - and spec - it hink in general the Ipad is good for light users - but for multi tasking and speed - its nowhere near the samsung and even acer.

Playbook - they will do well as they are already in majority of the business so there road in to large corporates is half done.

HTC's handsets have definitely caught up. Android will certainly end up beating iOS for the simple reason that iOS runs on 5 products in the marketplace, whereas Android runs on over 200. Apple's competitive advantages lie in design, iOS functionality (facetime etc) and the availability of apps, but the gap has closed massively in the latter vs Android from 50:1 in 2008 to something like 4:1 now, so it's not clear how much longer that will last for.

I think Android will struggle to erode Apple's market share beyond a certain point because once you're bought-in to apple, you're pretty much going to be a lifetime advocate.

Apple does attract and retain people very well. Personally I'm not fan of them, but you cannot argue with their success. (Although their fanboys are all cocks) :D

the issue with Apple is there indirect monopoly - there strategy this year, i predict - will be to fill in models in all price brackets and do as much as possible to stop Samsung and HTC. The Iphone 5 is already a failiure in terms of product value - i mean better camera, slightly faster chip and what else?...err not much.

HTC they cant do much about - as there dominance and connections in Asia will dwarf Apple - Samsung - again - Asian connection and so Apple brand will soon fade

It is reckoned that Apple has around 6 years as a top level brand - before the rest are on the level in terms of Brand awareness - in terms of technology - Samsung have killed them on there Galaxy Tab and the new HTC coming out Q4 will severely dent IPhone 5

Design wise I still think apple trump the lot. All their products are so intuitive. Pick them up and they just do what you want and expect them to.

Apparently there will be 2 new iPhones in autumn - one with 3GS components in the 4's chassis at a lower price level, and the 5. Biggest strength of the 4 is the screen IMO. Wll be interesting to see what they come up with as everything's been kept very quiet after th 4 was leaked...

then ollie you need to see the Samsung Galaxy range - there is a reason Apple are running about wanting Samsung Galaxy range Banned in the USA for sale - i think now even the design and usability war has been equalled. I guess time will tell - this time next year figures for Tablets - which is the next big market - will determine Apple's multi handset dominance

Apple works out of the box intuitively as Ollie says and to date, no one else does it as well as they do. And they have a massive loyal customer base so whilst other new products may be "better", apple should still be able to dominate if Steve Jobs and his team work hard

how true this is noone knows - but apparently Steve Jobs has put in place a 5 year plus product roadmap - the value of that could be challanged as technology direction changes every 6 months, be that processor architecture, screen technology and even data transmission.

that I do agree - he did something that was simple and KISS''d it -which made technology appeal to mass market. However - brand and market dominance means very little Simon - more so in technology space.

Example? Lets rewind 6-7 years - could ANYONE have predicted Nokia being put last in the handset race? Nope.
Could ANYONE have predicated Cisco losing overall market and revenue? Nope

I think its Apple's to lose mate - if HTC and Samsung keep pushing and Apple dont innovate - its over.

Apparently Nokia are 2nd in terms of global smartphone sales to Samsung at present - their move with Microsoft was a smart one.
