Anyone catch this yday?

In another article - he allegedly took one pill and died? Not sure what thats about - but id be surprised if they were steroids for real - or something else

Two charged with drugs offences

Matthew died at Southend University Hospital
A man and a youth from Essex have been charged with drugs offences after muscle-building drugs were linked to the death of a teenager.

Matthew Dear, 17, of Southend, died on 20 April after taking a course of anabolic steroids.

Essex Police said a 21-year-old man has been charged with being concerned in the offer to supply a class C drug.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with possessing anabolic steroids with intent to supply.

Both are from Westcliff and have been bailed to appear before Southend magistrates later this month.

A 25-year-old man who had also been arrested has been released from his bail with no further action to be taken against him, police added.

Steroids kill marine cadet

02.09.09 A man and a boy have been charged over the death of a marine cadet who had allegedly taken steroids.

Matt Dear, 17, died of a fatal swelling to the brain after he tried a £30 batch of body-building pills.

The fitness fanatic from Southend was desperate to build up his strength to pass the physical test to join the Marines when he turned 18, his family revealed.

A 21-year-old man from Westcliff, Essex, has been charged with one count of being concerned in the offer to supply a class C drug.

A 17-year-old boy from Westcliff has been charged with one count of possessing anabolic steroids with intent to supply.

They have been released on police bail to appear at Southend magistrates' court on 16 September.

Matt died in Southend University Hospital on 20 April.

His parents Chris, 43, and Tina, 41, have warned others against taking steroids.

Sounds like there was something else in there. I suppose it is feasible to have some sort of allergy reaction to any compound but what are the odds?

true - could have just been unlucky and took too much.

UG labs are getting out of hand anyway - so wouldnt be surprised if it was a Lab

Am no expert but doesn't sound like typical anaphylaxis/allergic reaction - might well of been some kind of contaminant in there.

Tragic either way.
