Skiing - Morzine

Postby ollie on Tue Aug 19, 2008 3:57 pm

Just got this trip booked for next March. I've not been for a few years but it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun - 18 mates all staying in a massive catered chalet!

Anyone into skiing and/or been to Morzine? I've heard the aprés is rather good :)

Apparently thats the best part of it - all those Chalet girls.

I've only boarded mate but that was a laugh plus we stayed at a few resorts with racing moutain bikes.

I spent about five consecutive summer holidays in Morzine (amongst other places) for the downhilling, haven't been in a while though and last time I was there it was increasingly Magaluf-esque, if I go to a remote French mountain town for a break I'd rather not have to spend it with 90% male Brits. Bah humbug, etc etc.

That aside, Morzine is very picturesque and if the snow is good you'll have a blinder. The beauty of the Portes Du Soleil is that you can have fun hopping from one village to the next, into Switzerland and back, and generally covering a lot of ground in a day; there are also some really good restaurants in town for the kind of meat-and-cheese fest that you can only justify after a day on the slopes. Check out the Tartiflette, it may not quite conform to your bodybuilding dietary requirements but I can safely say you won't go to bed hungry. 8-)

Hmm...didn't know it was like that. Still I guess with 18 of us going it'll be a laugh wherever we are :)

Diet schmiet on this holiday! We're actually catered for in the chalet for 5 of the nights (including wine and a 6 course meal) plus breakfast and food all day long...doubt there'll be much wanting for food :D

Will try and make sure we check out Tartiflette - cheers for the heads up Ed!
