S.Scoular Powerlifting Journal!

Postby Steven Scoular on Thu Aug 21, 2008 10:08 pm

This journal will be mainly focused on weight gain. I will also train raw for a while to develop more natural strength to carry over to equipment later on.
I will stay committed for the weight gain and start to pay my dues!!

Weigh-in will be every Tuesday afternoon.

The Immediate goal will be to get to 56kg.

Training will be recorded as well.

My first post will be from my most recent meet to give everyone an understanding of my current ability.

My most recent weigh-in was on the 19/08/2008 - 53.0kg.
150kg Squat, 80kg Bench and 180kg Deadlift at 52kg bodyweight.

Hold all 52kg and 56kg BPC records. Going for 60kg class next!

Do you perchance train at Genesis in Alperton? It's just that I saw a fella who looked about your weight moving similar sorts of weights I would expect from that total.

Good to have you aboard anyway!

I haven't had a chance to say hi at a meet before but I was there watching at the Brits this year. As has already been said, you are an impressive lifter.

I can't remember, but I can remember what I did while I was there. It would be in July though, while I was there. I'll have a look in my journal for the exact date.

EDIT - ME Lower - 23/07/08 is when I remember seeing someone who may have been you. Probably about 7 pm. I was the one in dazzling green shorts. Journals are useful things.

I was benching on the 23/07/2008 at genesis and I usually train in the afternoon after work, so you could be right as it's matching up :).

How often do you go? Meet up for a workout at some point.

I was only going when I was living/working in London. If I'm ever around again though I'll be sure to let you know. I'll probably do the same summer job next year, at least, so I'll be training there again.

Impressive stuff, but why not use bands for speed benching if you're going to use them at all? I would have thought this is where the bands have most application. Rack deads look outstanding as Mark said.

Thanks you two. Regarding the benching with bands I know little about bankwork and was just for practice. I am under the impression it helps with balance/stability. Harder to lock bands out at top so decent tricep/lock out work too.
