I have but already I think I am going to have to stick to leg press as my knees are already giving me gip from squats.

Presses, extensins and leg curls are all I do.

Still kept things easy this week.

Have this morning woken up with a bloody sore throat & a head cold. Fucking pissed off with this as I've never really totally kicked whatever bug I had several weeks ago & can now feel it really coming on again!

Dosing with echinacea & vit c powder. Have the next 10 days off so off tonight & going to have drink or three see if I can give the damn big alcoholic poisoning. Then will try and sweat it out of me the next 2-3 days.

Update!

I've been off work this week (not sick, I don't do sick) but its been the strangest week going. I've just felt totally shattered & just not quite right. Getting good sleep, no disturbed cycles due to shifts etc but I've just not been able to stay awake, falling asleep in the day if I've been in (that's something I rarely do). Although I had that bug & a cold several weeks ago I sure do not feel as if I am coming down with anything.

Any way rightly or wrongly I've had a week away from the gym (more for the fact of lethargy than anything else).

I think I'll be glad to get back to work next Wednesday as I'll be more awake again hopefully.

Ok, well its back in the gym tommorow.

A question on supps guys. As those of you from the MP forums I'm not a big believer in downing loads of supps for the sake of it.

But I have to (finally lol) admit that I am taking longer to recovery, that coupled with (I guess) a drop in test production leads me to think that some supps (ie the right sort) may help with both recovery & test production.

Any hints or tips on what could be a good stack?

I really rate desicated liver tablets from H&B a few of these a day with meals make me feel "better".

Beta Alanine helps with fatigue whilst training but takes 2-3 weeks to take effect.

OKG is bloody expensive in the UK but from 1kg.com is about £40 and well worth the money. It really helps reduce recovery times and help control cortisol which is a good thing.

In terms of a non hormonal test booster, that's being worked on for us old guys ;) and I'll let you know shortly.

My understanding is that this helps again with cortisol and may boost test. I'd also recommend grape seed extract as it control estrogen and thereby helps with free test.

tbh mate, it might be worth getting a testosterone check at the GP because if that's low in can have an adverse effect on moods and they may perscribe tesogel (sp?) which would be great for your training and general well being.

Espistane is also good and the reports I seen for older trainers seems to indicate that it has positive effects if taken in lower doses on the old chap!

I know its been scoffed at, but i really rate ZMA. I dont take it every single day, but I do before I go to bed after a heavy session where I feel drained. Ive found in the past when ive ran out of it, i wake up feeling drained, but taking ZMA makes me feel a lot fresher when i wake and closer to being ready for the next session.

This may just be down to better sleep, but as better sleep = better recovery for me its a valuable supp.

Time to resurrect this I guess.

I've been back in the gym for a few weeks now, Just been doing full body 2-3 times a week, dependant on shifts and how tired I have been.

Now decided to go to a p/p/l for a short time (I know you hate this Simon). I'm off to Nashville for a week next Thursday so the plan is to start when I get back. I'll just keep with the full bod this week & next.

Surprisingly the BF% is almost the same as that taken with calipers. I've also taken a couple of pictures. DAMN have I gained some weight around my stomach since the beginning of the year! I knew I had as trousers were much tighter. But actually seeing a side profile shot has given me more motivation to get sorted in that gym.

Its bloody horrible but its now the wallpaper on my PC as every time I log on I see it! That motivates I tell you.

So stats today are :

Height 180cm

Weight 89.5kg

BF% 25.7

Visceral
fat 15

BMI 27.6

Muscle
Mass% 38.7

Water% 54.4

I'm fully aware of all the arguments against these types of scale (before that discussion starts) but at least it gives me a guideline. Run in conjunction with the calipers I will know when one or the other is telling porkies!

I'll probably not run this as a workout t workout journal as I really get bored inputting the figures all the time. I will use it for ocassional updates.

Before anyone asks I am not putting the pictures up (thats how embarrased I am by them & I don't do embarrased normally). I will post them as before and afters when I have removed the lard :).

Good stuff Ressie. As you say the scales aren't exact but they're a good duide and that's all you need at this moment.

I won't say anything about PPL apart from you need to add in some partials for chest on the Smith Machine set at a shallow angle and try paused machine rows for your back. With legs, the Leg Press at 20-30 reps will help get that fat down as well.
