Red Meat Placement

Postby Alex on Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:18 pm

What are views on timing during the day for eating Red Meat?

I feel the optimum placement is earlier in the day due to longer digestion time but as I tend to prefer training between breakfast and lunch then this isn't really possible unless I move to an early afternoon training time.

Otherwise late afternoon may be on the cards as I wouldn't want it to be the next solid meal after training but again not later in the evening either as need to give digestion a rest.

Hmmm, see I think you need a bit of a rest to be honest plus there's a higher Insulin Response from Red Meat which may not help sleep either.

I'm inclined to say just eat it when you feel like it - Breakfast lunch mid afternoon snack - whatever, but that's just being frivolous.

No idea - I can see arguments either way- Not sure about KP's comment as surely it sits in your stomach and rots away whatever time in the day you eat it - red meat's notorious for being digested slowly and sitting in the gut.
