Ramped or straight sets?

Postby Karlos on Tue Apr 01, 2008 4:26 pm

For the purposes of the repetition method used in conjugate training, what would be best? A multiple set ramped approach, or a few warm up sets with 3-5 working straight sets?

I've been using a ramped method for most of my lifting so i think including more straight sets for a change up may well be useful..

thoughts?

I guess you'll have to consider the extra intensity with more working sets.

ok thanks for the input folks

Iv decided for all my volume work im going to do 3 straight sets of 6-10 reps.Obviously weights may be slightly lower, but it should stimulate abit of hypertrophy methinks, which is never a bad thing. I think that is the way the programme advises anyway.

Ramped sets for your big lifts. With Conjegate you need to getting beyond 90% of your 1 rm max every week. So ramping is a necessity.

Straight sets are preferable for assistance work as the overall volume will be greater in the long term.
