What sort of ROM do people use for these?
best i can do in my gym would be about top 25% of full DL ROM, which im guessing isnt enough to be really effective?

I ensure that at standing next to the bar..the bar is 2 inches below my knee caps...so either stand on a platform or plates..

might have to put some plates on step then, or see if i can take something in with me.
the plastic steps have some things that higher the step, but dont fancy pulling over 200kg with my own bodyweight on them also!

i go from just above my knees which is enough to have to drop my arse down a bit and make it a hamstring hammering bastard. Watch your rack tho, mine shudders nicely when i gently place 250kg+ back on the rails :)

i like the 'gently' part there :p
people have been giving me funny looks when using 200 and it makes that softly softly 'ting' as i put it down hehe

Morba, I use one of those plastic steps in the rack and just jack up the height until I'm at a good level for the bar.

The trick is to position it longitudinally instead of transverse and stand on the end where it has the most support. This way it won't bend and bounce through reps which is off putting.

yeah man careful it doesn't break. Surprised the gym team allow you to use it for that. Mind you, who's gonna come over to tell you not to! lol A bloke wouldn't but a woman would

They can take 300kg plus me so far.

This is why I specified the Longitudinal placement as you're then standing on it's strongest point. Hard plastic can take a lot of compressive weight.

It's not although I've used those in the same manner with similar weight without problem.

These are the Techno Gym ones I think which have the square hooped bases that you can stack.

Rack deads are pretty good as they hit back well and less legs are involved

I stand on 2 x 25kg plates, the only problem is it makes it harder to find enough weight to put on the bar and i feel guilty when others are trying to train and they are having to bench with 8 2.5kg plates on each side :)

ITS not a cage as such. More of a squat rack with supports. Its made by cybex so its very good quality
