Your plan for the year?

Postby Wardie on Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:11 am

Has anyone given much thought to what types of routine they'll be using over this coming year? There's a few I want to try this year.

HST (Again)
HIT
Chad's 10x3 for fatloss (Although I may actually try it on a bulk as well)
Upper/Lower (Not sure)

I think i've got a pretty good balance using them routines between pure size and strength, with slightly more focus on the size side.

Ill just stick with 2 x DC blasts in a row, then 6 weeks of slightly higher volume and drop sets (lactic acid style)...and see where I am at in December..

Bit of a funny year for me as i have 2 almost conflicting goals, if i was just increasing strength id be doing a 5x5 or ME/DE , and if i was just dropping weight id be doing HIT, but im trying to do both which is leading to a mish mash of styles.

Im going to see if i make any progress with my current style (going heavy on compounds, then high reps on isolations with some cardio), if not i will split the goals.

My problem is at 35, my chances of competing well shrink each year so im rushing a bit, but worst case scenario, starting compete in my 40s in a masters division is no bad thing :)

Its going to be a bit tricky as well as ill switch weight gyms in September so that may disrupte me a little.

I'm going to attempt to increase my overall fitness and aerobic/cardio vascular capacity whlist still getting stronger.

Should be amusing :)

I'm lookint to do some lactic acid work for the next month or so. Then some full on Dorien HIT for a month, then some high volume work.

Basically, just chop and change.

Ideally, I can maintain current weight and get body fat down to 12% as below, I look and feel shit!

as of next week I'll be on a fat loss program for a few weeks to drop down to around 11%, then I'll probably go for a three day split routine focusing mainly on size up until the summer, then when the time comes to covering myself up in warm clothes, I'll head on a strength routine so I'm actually as strong as I look (and not just a posure lol)!

I shall be needing some help on routines when it comes to the size ones in about 6weeks!
1/2 Iron Man training at present...

Been thinking of switching to an U/L split for some time - will probably do so when hoops season ends... Problem is, I can't really see myself training legs on the same days I got hoops practice, and I don't want to train too close to the weekend when we play games...
So an off season U/L blast, possibly with some Epistane thrown is growing in my mind... Just want to gain some 5-8lbs, already dropping a bit of fat (slowly, though, about 2-3lbs/month)...

dont be fooled into thinking that a bodybuilding routine wond yield strength gains. i base my aims on increasing weight or reps on every session from the previous and ive never trained (properly) for strength in my life. i consider myself to be stronger than i look in some movements. So..although the wieghts dont matter all that much, they are still the main proirity as poundage progression is key to bigger muscles.

I plan on continuing with high intensity training, but adapting where required to keep me growing. i want to be 13 st 8 and fairly lean (12%) for ibiza in August.

1)I would like to break 17 stone whilst maintaining my waist .

2)Growing a chest bigger than Keira Knightley would be nice

3) Have sex at least once

2 out of 3 would be okay 8-)

Finish this cycle of HST, which will take me to around 14st before I go to Riga on 19 March.

Then I'm cutting Waterbury style (10x3) for no longer than 10-12 weeks, which should get me down to <10%, then I'm going to focus on bringing up body parts rather than just going for size. I want to stay mobile and improve my fitness after that, so I'll focus on strength gains for a while.

Not 100% sure what I'll do after the cut though...

Without a doubt i'm going to use HST again, i'll stick to my words there.

Still interested in 10x3 and we'll see how HIT goes, i'm starting tonight (I think i'm really going to make some progress in the next 2 months, i'm excited about training tonight).
