BUCS Comp

- Laurence was ill so he didn't come. Very disappointed for him as he would have come second ahead of me for a Notts 2 3.
- My boys from York Fitness gave me a lift to the venue. They're the BSD of non-supplement stuff.
- Some prudish guy told me I wasn't allowed to weigh in nude.
- Weighed in in boxers and socks and was 74.6 or something so they probably thought I was a weirdo asking to weigh in nude, lol.
- Lots of decent looking squats getting reds for depth, including my opener. One side judge gave all of mine reds.
- On bench I asked for 92.5 for my 3rd but they wrote down 90. I was pleased to get 90 in strict conditions though, no sure if 92.5 would have gone up.
- Deadlift opened with 185, got 195 and 205 was just too fucking heavy. The bar didn't move, thus making me looks stupid. I hate it when they do that.

I finished with 157.5/90/195 for a 442.5 total. 2nd place out of ~6, the winner totalled 510.

Pics (I took these as I wasn't sure if I could get Lys the videos she asked for, so I would at least have something).

Me looking huge and powerful just on the feminine side of 75 kg.
Image

My legs looking huge and powerful. As my lifts suggest these are somewhat of a redeeming feature (alongside ass of course).
Image

This is a picture of me using a technique called "finding my bubble" that I learned from Dave Tate. Basically you put loads of air into your cheeks so your face looks like a bubble. It's very effective.

Vids to come.

My class was like this, minus Lozza:

ROBIN MIHRSHAHI U OXFORD
LAURENCE STOKES U NOTTINGHAM
GEORGE NOBLE U NOTTINGHAM
ADAM SANDEL U OXFORD
DANNI SELIGER U BOURNEMOUTH
JOSEPH COOGAN U K.M.C.
JAMES WHITE U GLOUCESTER G/SWTEAM
WAYNE CUTLER U SOUTH DEVON/SWJ
TOM HOUGH E OAKMEAD

Robin came first (he has a cooler beard than me too :(). I was up against one E but he was quite new to the sport I think, I'm not sure what he finished with or if he beat my total. The judge was alright, he gave my benches and pulls whites. Judging was harsh throughout on squat but since they were consistent I can't really complain.

Thanks Rilla.

Before I go to bed I'll post one last anecdote.

There was some weird-ass behaviour in the warmup room. Some people were doing jump squats, and a few people hit their openers. I had to spot a few U guys for their warmups which I thought was weird as Hell. One guy in my class had 180 as his deadlift opener. I saw him warming up and I thought, "shit, this guy's warming up with 170 he's gonna pull pretty big." He ground out the "warmup" deadlift, then hitched his opener diesel weasel style. I screamed at him really loud to keep his hips down and he got 180 on his second attempt.

Well done mate. :D

Just as well you never weighed in naked. That hairy arse would have scared the judges :?

A few more relevant pics.

157.5 - they issued us with blue t shirts and yet we were still allowed to say we were "unequipped." Weird.
Image

My arch with what looks like 90.
Image

Deadlifting without my blue t shirt (195). I wore a blue hat in between attempts to get my brain ready to lift weights.
Image

It looks like the girl with the camera got pictures of my PBs, which suggests any videos she got may have been of crappier lifts. Ah well.

Blue? They let you wear blue? Don't they know it has well documented anabolic effects. I bet you had porridge during your carb up too!

Well done mate that's some really good lifting, i'd be proud of that.

Was anyone lifting in the 67.5KG class (if there even was one)? If so can you remember what sort of weight was going up?

Rorsarch:
Normally I squat with my socks down, but I warmed up and did my opener with them up. When I missed my opener I pulled them down and got my second and third. They need to be up for deadlift though I pull like crap with the bar scraping my shins.

Wardie:
67.5
ALI CANNINGS OAK E 63.2 190/107.5/175//472.5 I E FE
ALEX VIVIAN OAK E 65.4 150/100/175//425 2 E FE
THOMAS KING OAK U 65.8 100/60/110//270 1U FE

Not much there you can relate to as 2 guys are E and one is only ~14

Not much there TBH. Mostly just me looking clueless about stuff lol. I wasn't waiting for a command to DL but I was expecting the middle ref to put his hand up when I gripped the bar as that's what the ref did last time.

lolwut edited for video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMOZkFmug-E
