That's a big jump from fags are stalling my progress and being bigger just cos I shoot up... I think I'm fecking that whole idea off for a long time, just want to be a normal guy, not that guy on roids at work. Will maybe consider it a little further down the line but I'm adding 2.5KG min every week on my bigger lifts and at least adding reps on everything else so I can't see the point in throwing that away. My main interest in using gear now would be to rip off some fat whilst maintaining strength but fatties can't take gear can they so bollox at it.

Anyways, been living a life of no discipline for a month or so diet wise and will check that as of Tomorrow with a new routine and cardio in the next 6 weeks with the intenion of losing 8-10lbs fat whilst sill improving lifts and reps.

I think October has been a shitty month for a lot of us. November will be better.

Well Halloween was Happy and November is off to a good start wih Guy Fawkes Night coming up and a decent paycheck yesterday - despite a lack of overtime. Also be getting our pay increase that's been on dispute next payday(28th) and this is also the month I get 2 pay checks drop bfore my loan and mortagage so I'm about £900 up just from that - but that's a short-lived thrill as it's all for xmas pressies - should just about cover it with panto tickets too and hopefully a trip out this weekend and a meal out for me and the lady - which is so long overdue I'm ashamed of myself. If there's any left, I'll get in about 6months worth of whey cos it's gonna be very tight after xmas unil I reduce some debt cos these guys want a doggy and I want to take them to disney florida which I will have to save for - a long time probably.

Thought I'd throw in an update on this. had a few cheats. It's not a biggy, just one or two - not like a regular smoker. Will be pushing for a new record of 5 days as of 10pm thirsday night - this doesn't mean I'm back to being a regular smoker until then, I just want a fag by the big fire tomorrow... Always nice to just stand and cook and relax.
As of then it's back to the real effort I was putting in when I started - once you get past 3/4 days, it's quite easy to make yourself go whole days at a time, for me it's the actual never ever again I'm struggling with. I think it needs to be a more short term goal - like until december the 19th when I get unleashed at God's Kitchen...

ye baby steps, first go 3 days that you've done then go 3 weeks a couple of times, then after that its not about slipping and having the odd fag when your drunk but throwing the rest away when you wake up!

Upright - I think thats right - You need to work it so that you say "right, from this day to this day I want have one" then maybe have half a one? Then do the same thing again and 1/3, then again and few smokes then stop. As youve had issues stopping, this may be a sound approach? If not - just siperglue your lips shut.

Personally i think its a mistake to have the odd one. It wil in the longer run lead you back to smoking full time when a stressful sittuation occurs. Become a non smoker first, then learn to handle the odd fag.

Stop kidding yourself upright. GO a week without smoking and go from there.

I agree with Rab, cold turkey, but we've already established upright is having trouble so if this 1 last cig at the bonfire helps then so be it. But I think that should be the last one

Cheers guys, it's not deaf ears your advice is aimed at but I must admit, I have found it hard to get to the 4 day - and it's not even as if I couldn't have done it - it's as Rab says, stop kidding yourself and I really am trying that - and I like that thought to, become a non smoker first... good stuff.

I'm actually gonna tell you a positive of not smoking now but this involves fessing up to my pathetic squats that shall be no more:

I've always been comfortable with my form on Squats, but have not really go very far with them at all cos I've been a bottle job. High reps soon have me wretching and lower reps where I should have been going higher have been awful to. I can get ATG fine and all that - well once I hit a certain wieght to get me past my lack of flexion, but then have been a total faggot throughout. This has seen my deads leap past them in just 6 weeks of doing deads. One of the things that has caused me issues with squats is I just seemed to get so bloody breathless and soon would be seeing dots.... But not today.

Last session was-
warmup + 3x6x80+bar (8.5KG)
the last 2 sets were rest paused and quite hard - lame I know.

Today I didn't feel like stopping but was pressed for time and I did -
75x6,80x6,85x6,90x4+2,95x2 all +bar at I think 8.5KG - I reckon fresh, there's probably 105 for 2 easyish

So very happy with that, 95 was just supposd to be a feeler, but my mirror is tilted up slightly and I stepped a bit far back so couldn't quite see depth so did another to be sure of sub parallel. Will be returning to 3x6 on these at 95+bar and hope to get up to 120x6 by xmas and maybe a vid but my room is a work in progress...

I attribute this to less smoke so thanks to all for your encouragement. :D

You love us kicking your butt!

If you're having trouble with the squats why not do front squats n box squats for a few weeks to see if that helps. Or health recommends elevating the heels.

It's true I'm sucker for a good ass kicking.

Squats are in hand now, I warmup with a wider stance to get good depth and once I get heavier it's no bother at all. Just the bottling it that has kept me back and as I say, it was the breathlessness. Today was sooo easy for squats. And just for a laugh, I threw and extra 25KG onto my front squat at the end to see if I'd been selling myself short there and reckon I have too so very happy today indeed as this means progress to come in the next couple of months.

That's what I been doing you daft Jock - just not enough... And then whenever I get a break from squats for some reason I bottle it and go back - not this time!

Yes but I need wife n kids to sit on the bar as I now deadlift everything I own and soon squatting... So treating myself to some new kit this week. Might get some 20s and some .5s to help on my DB shoulder pressing and side lats. Could do with a couple more 5s and 7.5s to make up some bigger DBs - ironically, I'll end up spending the equivalent of a years gym membership...

Who's going to spot your squat when it gets real heavy?

Well Lucy usually mentors me. Today she pointed out that I had red on my face - I pointed out that was my face...

I hven't got a clue - it's a bother to be sure. I just make sure my phone is near by... I'm, more worried about my bench to be honest. Once that gets heavy I'm a bit stuck. I think the safest way to progress is to go past the desired rep range by 2 reps and then it should be fine to go up...

Very good- If I get that, I'd have to thow out my current bench and just get one I can slide in and out of there for pressing because of space - assuming I can press in that rack - looks possible... A decent bench is not cheap though
