Raw Bench Record

Postby burningnun on Sat Oct 18, 2008 11:34 pm

I was wondering if anyone happens to know the British junior raw bench record at 75 kg. My training partner pause pressed 120 about 5 weeks out so we think he must be fairly close. He's pretty nuts in terms of strength feats. He's got a straddle planche pushup, a three clap pushup, a +35 or +45 pullup and ~+60 weighed dips. He's also close to a one arm chin and doesn't arch at all when he benches

Which federation are you talking about here?
If you're not sure if you're getting quality sleep or not, this is your standard: You should always wake up under a teepee. If you don't have a boner so solid you have to do a handstand to take a morning piss, your Testosterone levels are probably low.

it wouldn't be a all time british record in juniors , strong lift though. Curt could get over 140 raw in 75s if he wanted and in the 82's theres some stronger benchers too. He should definetly compete though. Is he ever planning on competing in the equipped class? seems to be an increasingly improved standard of records in that now overall.

He said he wasn't interested in competing equipped, but then I was saying that until a few weeks ago and after the Nov. 30 competition I will probably be competing equipped so you never know. He'll be competing with me in November. He also has a 205 kg deadlift. We're working on getting his squat up as it's about the same as his bench at the moment. Still, not bad for someone who only started training for powerlifting at the end of September.

I guess I was talking about BWLA and GBPF or whatever the new one is called, since that's where he is competing.

If that is correct and up-to-date i'm 0.5kg of the U20 75kg unequipped record on the bench. woop :D I reckon that is reachable target lol ;)

If that is correct I am officially a weakling....no way I could hit the bench record now, but I did BP that back in 2001. New target: get rehabbed and make a stab at the DL 172.5kg target.

I honestly wouldn't bother about whether you get those 'records' or not, aim for the equipped ones which have far more credibility. You can honestly tell those unequipped competitions aren't greatly contested, for instance 82.5kg record is standard as in 105kg , the deadlift record in 75's is 227.5kg and the total records all look way to low aswell.

Just concentrate on hitting pbs (which your doing good job of so far mate), go to your first comp wearing just wraps on squat and then go equipped at your next. Unequipped powerlifting will never be serious business unless the olympics lets PL in but for that only..

Can someone explain why equipped records have more credibility?

i think ash might have used the wrong word really. They are just as credible, however, as he said there is a severe lack of competition in Raw lifting. Many many first and 2nd places are because only 1 or 2 people enter at a weight limit.
Now, while you can only beat those who turn up, its a bit non competitive.

Agree with Ash about the forgetting the records part, just keep trying to better yourself, thats the main target :]
