Personally I don't see the point in competing, other than as an ego boost. It's great that we can all learn from what the pros achieve so I suppose we all benefit from it in some way. However, as much as I respect those that can diet that well, it's not healthy and you just sacrifice size in the long run.

That's just me though, I've always found competitive BBing a strange "sport" even though I aspire to certain physiques.

I agree with this... while I respect that competetive bb'ers have worked really hard, I always think that they just don't look healthy. As I've said before, if I had to pick bb'ers I like I'd say I prefer the "golden age" look when they had a bit more bodyfat and, as I see it, better proportions.

I could just as easily argue against contests for anything Ollie.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a very competetive person so as soon as I started I always considered it. I am however put off by the same things are you both because I don't really find the ultra ripped but unhealthy routines aesthetically pleasing at all. My father competed and I remember him saying to me over Christmas how seriously weird bodybuilding becomes once you head down that route.
This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will. Five percent pleasure and fifty percent pain.

I think it would be a big challenge to compete and if you love that side of bodybuilding it would be a great experience, even if you don’t do all that great.

One of the things about juniors is that once some of the guys have competed, they continue to compete and never have much of an "off season" to put on any more size. id like to see Exclusive compete in the juniors if he could bring up his weak points, but say he qualified for the British finals in October, that means he has 1 month to bulk up, then another 3 month dieting...it goes like that and you end up a year later the same size and weight.

Im off the idea. i don’t think id look like much of a bodybuilder onstage (even although i wouldn’t look out of place) and i couldn’t handle 10 weeks of dieting and feeling like i was going to die i don’t think. Not for the time being anyway!

You don't 'find' who you are, you make who you are.
