Hey I made it a masculine car thank you very much!! *snaps fingers*

Actually it was a bit of a beast, 240bhp of RWD fun!

Turbo conversion?

240bhp in one of those must have been a riot as they handled pretty well.

Indeed.

Garrett T28 Turbo
Custom air induction system with heatshield
Trackdog Racing Intercooler
Piggy back ECU controller
Fuel regulator
Sports cat
Turbo downpipe & manifold
Full S/S exhaust sytem
Full brake upgrade
ARBs
SPEC2 clutch (semi organic/kevlar)

It had a wonderful Limited slip diff which I was thinking of upgrading but it was fine.

As you may know the MX5 is probably one of the best handling cars in the world, the chassis is phenomenal, all it needed was a bit more punch - and it got it.

236bhp & 221 lbft of torque. 0-60 time of near on 5s, I managed 5.4s. It was phenomenal. Kind gutted I sold it as a it was a wolf in sheep's clothing really!

This is taking the thread completely O/T so I apologies...

But here are some pics of the work:

Definitely a bit of a sleeper then.

I drove the 1.6 once intending to buy but the performance was sorely lacking. Loved the steering and handling though, great fun at not too silly speeds :)

Possibly...I'm no Audi fan either. Good mate has one of the new S3s and that thing is seriously dull :)

I've not driven one but the shape is enough to bore me.

I agree about the shape there's something uninspiring about them, and less involving to drive, the R8 though is a bit different a lot more character. The mx5 was a go kart! :D

Always loved the shape of Audis, they all look like business. Used to be a big BMW fan too but I just can't get my head round the new softer lines...

I really don't like the look of the new Beemers they look a bit... I don't know "odd"? Audi's are better looking cars, but they're a little bit lacking in character - except for the RS models which just look mean.

Odd is right on the money. Those 1 series things are just plain ugly

And ridiculous. The whole point of a hatch is practicality and with the propshaft taking up pretty much most of the middle seat it seems a bit daft... though I'm a huge fan of RWD over FWD.

All true, they are pig ugly, although we had a 120i in Spain earlier this year and I was really impressed with it :)

Roomy enough for 4 with luggage too, so quite practical I'd say.

True enough, I've had a spin in the 120d which wans't bad... however it sort of goes against the whole point of a hatchback doesn't it?

Yeah I suppose, but BMW will (I hope) never make a FWD car. Apart from the mini anyway :)
