Na-RALA

Postby Alex on Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:20 pm

For fat loss I'm starting to rate this supplement now.

Been using 100mg after big meals so approx 4 times a day and there's definately been some composition improvements withing 7-10 days.

Just run out so I'll be after more of this.

Everywhere mate, but yes, the little I have there is going.

Belly button looks more shallow if you get me.

hmm its contoling the cortisol release from meals, makes sense as its linked to the insulin response.

how do you rate it against fish oils?

Well I'd use it along side personally as I take 2 fish oil caps after each meal as well. I'd like to add Krill Oil to this little stack as well.

I mean the change when you first added fish oils compared to this change?

Oh sorry, KP moment.

Much more profound with the Na-RALA over Fish Oils.

I think Beast over in UKM experienced similar findings.

RALA is a brilliant supp to take if insulin sensitivity is a problem.

I also recommend it with PWO if you take lots of carbs (I have 200mg with my 150g carb PWO shake).

In fact RALA is a core supp for me. It energy production, enhances glucose metabolism, is a very powerful antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory effect, is a useful metal chelator, and provides neuroprotection.

All in all a great supp.

Not so sure of it's cortisol effect though; didn't think there was one.

Would it be any use to diabetics, or is that closing the door after the horse has bolted so to speak?

In theory it will help.

For Type II diabetics I'd go for a paleo diet; keep blood glucose levels low to start with. Then perhaps use RALA with a large carb meal.

Just ordered some from dodgysupplements.com so will give it a go, im going on all out assault at the moment with cardio, biking to work, 15g of fish oil a day, mega dossing cissus and tightly controlling carbs so ill add this in as well.

If that lot doesnt shift some lard nothing will.

Ive got some Alcar at home, stopped using it is all it seemed to do is make my sweat smell of amonia, not sure if i dosed it correctly tho, i was using about half and mp scoop in pre workout shake.

Having said that, BSD blend makes me smell a bit the same so maybe theres some in there?

Nope, not in the Strength/Pump Blend.

Ammonia is usually an excess protein side.

I use about 2g of ALCAR, 3 times daily which is 1 small 5cc scoop for 2g.

Elivated insulin drives blood sugar down leading to a cortisol spike, control the insulin - control the cortisol its all linked.

Probably not the best choice for someone with a suspected high heavy metal burden, as it doesn't bind that tightly with things like mercury and can increase circulating levels, exacerbating symptoms. Best to use Mr P's Metallic detox for chelation ;)

Yes I don't think RALA is the best metal chelator by any means. There are better, but afaik it does or can help in certain scenarios.

Thioctic (lipoic) acid: a therapeutic metal-chelating antioxidant?
