Suggesting A Routine

Postby Alex on Sat Jun 21, 2008 1:45 am

Following from a couple of suggestions and taking Karlos' lead:

Wouldn't an upper lower heavy/volume+speed suit you? simply a conjugate split. You could throw as much bodybuilder exercises in as you want on volume days so hypertrophy won't be neglected and you've got days dedicated to strength and some speed/shock training in on volume days.

Anyone fancy giving me some guidance?

Going Powerlifting??

James Copping's routine is a good version of this. Although he doesn't use conjegate. He seems to use a volume / intensity wave loading to avoid CNS burnout. It works well for him.

Conjegate involves rotating your ME exercises every 3 weeks to avoid burnout. This method allows you to lift at 90-95% of your max every week in theory. Advanced westsiders lift at 100%+ each week but change their ME exercises every week.

For a routine like this to work there are 3 compontents required

Maximum Effort (ME) - Strength in the main lifts
Dynamic Effort (DE) - Develops your rate of force excertion
Repeated Effort (RE) - Volume for hypertrophy to build all the assisting muscles and vanity purposes.

Some good articles are here;

Not directly into PL but certainly using it for Rugby. But afterwards we'll see.

No one at the moment but there are 3 teams of decent standard locally that I could pretty much walk straight into once my skill set is back upto match speed.
