When should i do cardio?

Postby Jake The Muss on Wed Mar 26, 2008 7:18 pm

Finally picked my treadmill up today so im gonna start doing some cardio. My question is ,should i do 20-30 mins straight after my weights session or leave it till later in the evening? It would suit me to do it straight after weights but i dont want to reduce any strength/muscle gains.Any help would be appreciated as i have no idea when it comes to cardio.

If you're just doing aerobic stuff, i agree with KP. although HIIT on the tread is surprisingly good if it's got the incline mechanism.

Incline goes to 10%.I was thinking of doing a program that a few fellas at my old gym used to use.
2mins@2% at about 5.5 kph
2mins@4%
2mins@6%
2mins@8%
2mins@10%
1min@9%
1min@7%
1min@5%
1min@3%
1min@1%
I was thinking of stretching this into a 20-30 minute routine? Couldnt do mornings so straight after weights?

I'd mix it up a bit if you can - do something different everytime as you have the facility. I can play with the resistance on my Xtrainer and like to screw around with it a bit. As long as you're putting a good effort in. Might be good to do a max incline after legs - just to finish em off

I personally like to only do cardio in the morning on it's own day with abs. But if you train evryday and don't want to keep taking showers and timing your meals around stuff I'd lob it in after weights - a nice 20-30 mins should be cool and then nail the PWO as soon as you get off. Maybe even get some dex in water fo while you do the cardio and then take the rest of your PWO when you get off.
