Funny that most of you are happy to pop a multivitamin (which is dubious as to whether it has any benefit) without question but using a method of extracting similar nutrients via natures own sources seems to be laughed at and deemed pointless.

Very weird attitudes some of you have.

Why not just eat the fruit ect, or blend it. No need to marinade :? I think that's the point everyone is making ;)

Alex, I'm with Clever on this as there's no way you'd get a huge transfer of vits etc, from steeping fruit in water

And you know this how? If water is tainted in colour then there's been some transfer from fruit into water as the principles of Osmosis would make this so and in a reasonable quantity.

The point that I mentioned previously but obviously need to make again is that not everyone wants to over eat on fruit in particular due to the quantity of sugar (especially Fructose) that would be ingested. Potentially this could be a way around it and one that uses actual natural sources containing actual vitamins and minerals rather than a tablet or cap.

What actually bothers me though is the medieval attitudes towards any "out of the box" thinking which is treated like witchcraft and the calls for the perpetrator to be burned at the stake. God forbid that we all share the same attitude as otherwise we'd still be in the dark ages staring at the fire and wondering what to do with it and finally deciding to put it out.

Crikey, you're being as defensive as Scott :o

Surely the sugar from the fruit would also be in the water...

Fructose is not as evil as people have been painting it on the net. I too was sucked into believing that for a while but have got over it.

Maybe so but I think I have a point...

Not doubt but if you use the whole fruit, skin, zest, etc then the net amount should be greatly reduced. Fructose is like any other nutrient in that it's fine in the right amounts and if you select your fruits carefully but again in fairly large quantities it can prove a problem over time.

What do you do with the fruit at the end of the 'marinade'- throw it away? If so this seems like an expensive way of using it. If you still plan to eat it however, then any nutrients added to the water must logically have been depleted from the fruit, i.e. there's no net benefit.

Fair doo's to you Alex for playing around with Ideas mate. You have a better physique and are stronger than all of us just about so no need to be defensive ya poofy c*nt :)

Im only willing to spnd X hours per wek on prep of food, training etc so im just hedging my bets on multivits. Nout wrong with spending time on it if its nutrition etc is a hobby on its own, rather than just means to an end for a lazy cnunt like me

Depends how much you can leech out of the fruit. Multiple days and getting full use of entire nutrients would mean little waste so all good. Otherwise could easily blend up into smoothie or as part of a marinade/sauce for cooking meat, etc.

Kudos to you for thinking of ideas to get the nutrients as I know you aren'T really a fruit or veg plan.

However, sucrose and glucose are both very soluble in water as are all of the monosaccharides and disaccharides. This is due to the polar groups, such as the -OH groups, on the molecules. Fructose is even more soluble. So unfortunately the idea to get the nutrients without the sugar is a bit of a dead end.

Still I will give you points for the thought.

I'd rather make a marinade from lemon, lime juice and something like stevia or xylobrit than steep fruit and veg in water.

Using fact to back up a statement rather than talking trash may have something to do with it...
