Rabs +60kg Dips

Postby Rab on Tue Feb 02, 2010 1:32 pm

Thought I would post this on the main board plus will get the odd bit of footage of boomage in future. If nothing else the noises coming off me should give folk a chuckle :)

That's very good, but I'd rather see you doing concentration curls in the squat rack like a real man!

Good form. Glad you only go to parallel, as any lower with that kind of weight and you're shoulders will be screaming.

You can make out the accent. On a very random side note, you're looking very buff, even in that camp pistachio green combo.

Great dips! Wasn't sure if you were shouting Rilla or sqeeek ;)

Is it not recommended to go below parralell for weighted dips? Or does it depend on how it feels for you?

I dont think it would be worth the risk on shoulders and tricep/elbow tie ins to go below parallel. Not with any kind of weight anyway

Especially for you since you have a fecked shoulder (rotator cuff right). Lots of stress is put on the shoulder if you go below parallel. It may be fine now, esp for young lifters, but after years of doing them I can tell you that my shoulders now never hurt from dips.

@Ash: yes, when I stopped going low to just about parallel (maybe 1" under on some), it did feel weird. Stick with it and it gets better. It's worth it in the long run imo.

I tend to get on without any problems for dips actually as it's more the top of the rotator cuff towards the back of the shoulder. However I'll make sure I listen to my shoulders and stick to parralell.

Or kickbacks... and real men do all their exercises on swiss ball so those dips will never count.

Nice work Rab - 40kg x 4 is my top weight on Dips so well impressed.

Yep, I think dips don't need to be taken beneath parallel for exactly the reasons mentioned above. Fabulous chest exercise if you get the right angle of lean, grip width and elbow position. Love em.
