The plan for next season:

-Only do a couple of equipped meets. Do strongman, raw, single ply, briefs only, bench only etc. meets in the meantime.
-Don't cut weight for a meet that isn't the Brits, the Worlds or a meet when I plan to set a record. In practice this will mean I cut weight at most twice. For the other meets I will just eat like I eat, show up and lift in whatever weight class the scale puts me in.
-Move up to 90 kg but given the above there's a strong chance some meets will be done at 100 and while I will get whipped at that weight this should be good for my development.

burningnun wrote:OK I haven't posted in here for a while so here is a summary of the last weeks.

My last squat session I did 275 for a double and then a single, both without knee wraps. The same session I picked up a 44 Katana from Jason and used 130 for doubles with 1 board, and got 120 to touch for an easy press. This was the only session I didn't write down I believe.

After this training cycle (my 4th fully equipped cycle of the year) my body was feeling pretty beaten up and I was glad of the week off. I had bulked up to about 87.5 kg in the mornings so I had some weight to cut, which went fine and I weighed in at 81.9. These scales seem to weigh everyone lighter than they think. I was probably more like 82.9. Regaining the weight was fun although I ate at 'Spoons with a guy who can't eat when he's nervous. Nice guy but it was a pretty lame meal for me when I should have been eating big. Next time I will find someone big to eat with.

This is how the competition went.

First squat with 275 was very bad. When I put my knee wrap on it must have caught a nerve or some connective tissue or something because I felt like I couldn't put weight on my left leg without it breaking. Luckily it didn't  Was very shaky off the rack and also hurt my chest and was honestly thinking about dropping out of the meet.

Second squat I was very nervous and I jumped the squat command. The judge was nice enough to tell the spotters to take it on the way down and not make me struggle with it.

Third squat I got right, 275 piss easy but couldn't go higher obviously.

First bench 125 comically easy.

Second bench 135 jacked the shirt too much and I took ages to touch and right as I did I told the spotters to take it.

For 137.5 we didn't really know how to put the shirt so we just guessed and I got that lift OK. 5 kg PB

First deadlift 200 piss easy

Second deadlift 222.5 2.5 kg PB and 7.5 kg total PB. Felt like a max.

Third 227.5 crazy slow but I got it.

Total 640 12.5 kg PB.

Got good help off Andy Bolton, Shane Harrison, Jim Dunford John and Luke C and also a few of the American lifters who were cool.

You cant knock 3 PB's on the biggest stage of all. You came back very well for a relatively bad start which shows you have great determination.

Very well done. You and Ader have done the forum proud with your respective PL exploits this year :D

Got ill between these two sessions  Not a lot of weight lost but still not feeling good. Hopefully by tomorrow I am fully recovered and I can get back on the road to being over 200 lbs.

Sat. 12/12/09

Block pulls:
mid shin
60 x 5
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 1
belt
180 x 1
220 x 0 not smart to attempt this lol
195 x 5 hard :( still a PB of sorts.. but not really

Barbell rows:
stamina was low and I was taking long rests so to get everything done I decided to RP these
60 x 8
100 x 10+6+4

Chins:
2 sets of 10 with BW

DB curls:
22.5 x 8 shit form but heavy = good
15 x 15 good form for the best of both worlds :)

Single leg presses:
115 x 12

Glute bridges:
+0 x 20 going to start adding weight to these and see what happens.

Wed. 17/12/09

Elbow sleeves for all exercises
BTN Push press:
20 x 5
20 x 5
40 x 3
60 x 1
belt
9 singles with 85
1 failed single with 85 in which I dropped the weight on my head, then my legs, then my knees, then the pins. Basically it was on the pins and my hole body hurt by the time I figured out what happened

Low incline DBs:
25 x 5
35 x 10
35 x 10
35 x 10

Bench:
40 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
90 x 3 easy considering how tired I was but I didn't have chalk and the bar was slipping so I left it.

Triceps and abs to finish off.

I'm pleased with how strength is continuing to progress on the DBs and push presses, despite being ill and having a crap diet. I guess training twice a week I don't really need to do much in the way of recovery. At this rate I will make solid gains on my raw bench without even bothering to train it. I mean, if I'm pressing the 50s for 8 reps with no arch and no leg drive will I still be flat benching 100x2?

Extra workout on Monday

Like 30 seconds of skipping until I tripped up. I'll practise more today because it's snowy and I want to be more like Rocky.

I love doing tricep movements against bands.
