Some holiday snaps for you **INCLUDES HOVERBOARDS**

Postby Spit on Wed Oct 07, 2009 12:10 pm

I finally got around to hosting my pics from Seattle and Whistler; these are totally training-unrelated, but quite frankly I think it would do you lot good to look at something other than naked male torsos for once.

Without further ado...

Colonnade Bike Park in Seattle:

Image

This place is built under a motorway flyover, only 2 acres but they've crammed an incredible amount of stuff in there. A great facility, all-weather and free for anyone to ride, I wish we had more stuff like this in the UK for the disaffected youth dem. Zion the dog was loving the woodwork:

Chillies at Pike's Fish Market:

This market was ace, loads of amazing fresh food and obviously the fish wasn't bad either. We bought a 3.25lb piece of wild salmon, it took an hour to bake and was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth:

HOVERBOARD!

This was in the Science Fiction Museum, on the side of the Modern Music Centre (your ticket got you entry to both). There were a few other familiar faces in there too:

Zion and his bitches...

Seattle Sounders game: turns out that 'soccer' is huge over there now, this is their first season playing in the Seahawks stadium and they've sold out over game so far. We were gifted four tickets for a private box which was pretty sweet, Margaritas beat pork pies any day of the week:

Kegger! I might not be able to drink beer but I can damn sure make good use of the keg to fix my bike:

Image

Yours truly playing at Onset- they know how to pour a DJ a drink out there! I'd never had a glass of Grey Goose with a garnish of Coke before, it was great.

Looking a bit the worse for wear post-Onset:

Whistler... if you've never been then just get it done, it's the best place on earth. They opened their Peak2Peak gondola over Xmas which was being built while I lived there, so it was cool to get to ride it at last, that thing is quite a piece of engineering:

There we have it- looking at those photos on a typically dreary English autumn day has almost reduced me to tears. Amazingly I managed to lose almost 3kg in two weeks despite eating my bodyweight in burritos and sushi, so have hit the gym with a vengeance since getting back.

Mods, if any of you have the skills to downsize the pics then please do so. Also some of the rest of you must have some good holiday pics, let's be having 'em!

No worries boys- I wasn't sure if anyone would be bothered tbh so glad you liked them, thanks for looking.

It's been a slow news day at work today so I had a bit of spare time to put them up; am now seriously contemplating printing them out and sticking them to my office window to replace the greyness of the real world!

I'm particularly loving the chilli picture Spit...how awesome are those colours?!! And being a Star Wars geek :geek: (real Star Wars, not the recent bollocks) I love the R2-D2!!

Beautiful scenery too. Definitely wish it was me diving into the lake!

you must be a Star Wars geek when you spell R2's name correctly with the hyphen :ugeek: :ugeek:

NERD ALERT!

I was actually more excited by the Turtles stuff, next to Donatello they had one of the control boxes used to control his facial features, there's a rather dingy shot of it in my Photobucket gallery. Disappointing lack of Aliens or Predator stuff though, they had one of the Marines costumes from Aliens but that was it.

Pingers- as inviting as that lake might look it was bloody freezing! Despite the blazing sunshine and heat I somehow managed to pick up a stinking cold the day before, was going to take a plunge but thought better of it after dipping my feet in. Erin gamely dived in, then emerged looking like she was going into shock and swam straight for the exit, so I felt justified in being a pansy.

Scenary there is just impressive. Another place to add to the list!

LMAO! You are talking to the girl who went swimming in 7 degree water for half an hour in April this year Ed! Although there is no way in hell I would actually dive in, that's lunacy! :o
