I mostly agree with Marks on this - Only point of disagreement is that it is obviously likely to not be good for people with a 'genuine' back problem to do heavy back exercises.
I am so glad I did Olympic lifting when I was younger as that really taught me to use my back properly and strengthened it up as well - Without that my back woudl probably be crap - It's still my weak link imo, but I've only ever really injured it once - A weird one bending over to reach for something and 'ping' last year - So That's pretty good I reckon
