Pilates

Postby Marks1972 on Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:10 am

One of the recommendations the Osteopath gave me last night was to look into doing Pilates. She said i was failing into the trap of focusing purely on strength and power and neglecting fitness and flexibility and pilates coupled with regular cardio would be an excellent balance for the lifting and contrary to my belief would actually up my lifts over time.

Any comments.. would i be 117kilos of sweating, grunting lard amongst a load of 5 stone grannies?

Most of the girls who do pilates at my gym are pretty fine!

Shame my missus goes aswell, otherwise I'd be at the back of the class if you catch my drift! ;)

Every pilates class I've been to has been filled with women in their 20s and early 30s...on average one guy a class, who generally gets made a fuss of because he's so much more balanced and not threatened by a group of women. Not that that has anythiiing to do with the benefits of pilates.

If you can hack all the estrogen it's pretty good for sorting out the deep core muscles and improving posture. Persuade the missus to go along with you, if she sorts out her inner core muscles there's benefits in that for you too

Never look back with regrets and think "what if" for that way madness lies. There are those that will envy you and try and undermine you. They are not worth your time.
