A great site for anyone that does any kind of running. I know that I'm an underpronator and neutral/efficient runner so need lots of cushioning in the heel of my trainers. I've nearly always used Nike Air but recently switched to Puma Cell... a mistake I think as they don't give enough cushioning at the front. I switched becasue I need a shoe that's also super steady for heavy lifting in squats and deadlifts... obviously Nike Air aren't ideal. The Puma's are very steady and good for lifting but my feet ache after 20 mins running :(

Currently looking at Asics Stratus.
http://www.sportsshoes.com/product/ASI7 ... o_basket=1 - This is a great site for picking up quality trainers at good prices too ;)

What shoes do you guys wear who lift heavy AND do a bit of running aswell??

I wear adidas Ironworks II for lifting. I rate these highly for all lifting. They provide a good platform for everything which requires you to be on your feet. Pretty good for benching etc too.

I wear new balance x trainers for cardio / walking. These are comfy, and wide fitting, which suits my feet perfectly.

Mate, Asics make by far the best running shoes...I used to get through a pair every couple of months, running 400-500 miles in a pair so I tried a lot of shoes. I also under pronate slightly.

Once I had a pair of Asics I never went back to anything else. Anything that's in the £65+ category (used to be a 6090 I think) is great - if you can afford it go for Kayanos, your knees will thank you :)

I went to a local running shop near to me & they popped me on a treadmill and video'd my running action and then recommended a few shoes from that for me to try.

So if you can find somewhere that offers this near to you I'd highly recommend it.

Yes those are the ones I was originally going for but they're the wrong type of trainer for my running style

As you can see these are for an over-pronator, or flat footed / low arch. Complete opposite to me (under-pronator with high arch)

Yes thats the best way of doing it. If I was a runner then I'd go into the city centre and get it done in the shop like you but can't bothered considering how many miles I run. The links I give in the OP give a pretty good idea of the type of shoe needed.

Yeah it's worth it for sure - once a pair of trainers had died my shins were nailed...every new pair solved it instantly :)

There's a profeet by where I'm working that does a similar thing.

Also Adidas will do made to measure custom fitting in some selected stores.

Yes Asics by far are the best : torana trabuco 5 hours a week at the moment no blister almost no joint pain, lower back great compared to adidas, reebok, NB.... I think that for th rest of my life I will run with Asics shoes !!
Sencha + asics a winning pair to loose fat coming from Japan !! ;) :D

Bison's been shop lifting wine gums fom the pic 'n' mix again - he needs a pair of lightning fast pumps to evade capture from store detectives.

I don't do any running but find Air max 95s incredibly comfy on the X-trainer but they pick up a stink quickly so I just use the flat soled jobbies I use for lifting. Like those things Cleaver's got though - smashing!

Asics are he standard issue down the pub shoe round here - too much silvery shit on em for me.

Im looking at picking up a pair of cheap running shoes. havn't got a clue about my running style, but i definitely need a pair which offer abit more cushioning than anything i've got already.

Would windsors have anything of use to me dya' think?

I've got converse for lifting in and they do the job perfectly, although some would argue they make you look like some sort of clown/gym head emo.

Those are the original iron works. Mine are the newer version which are silver. £80 or thereabouts. There are a newer version called adistar which are around 120 shermoolies

for an interesting shoe and a relatively good calf workout ( i noticed my calves becoming more pronounced) try the nike free range- these shoes are supposed to emulate bare foot running/walking

you can pick em up pretty cheap of ebay or tkmaxx's

If your feet are wide, aren't Ironwork IIs a bit too narrow? Mine are certainly fairly narrow and were uncomfortable until I wore them in.
