For those who don't want to read the whole thing:

Conclusion

PS supplementation with 600 mg per day for 10 days blunts the cortisol response to exercise-induced stress. In addition, PS significantly increases the testosterone to cortisol ratio. These findings suggest that PS is an effective supplement for combating exercise-induced stress. PS supplementation promotes a desirable hormonal balance for athletes and might attenuate the physiological deterioration that accompanies overtraining and/or overstretching.

Be careful with taking too much PS. Greater than 2400mg per week can lower cortisol too much in healthy individuals.

I'd say 800mg is max you need per day. After a week, lower the dose, and to such an extent that in some people only 100mg per day may be needed to see results.

Remember: cortisol is not all bad. We need it in the morning especially.

Isnt Cortisol actually involved in synthesis of FFA's?

agree with this - personally I cycled it for 5 days on 2 off and it was ok...but when i ran it continous I got crazy back aches which was odd.

I use the stuff on and off but don't take a lot, 100mg (with 100mg Choline & 50g Inositol (the NOW Foods branded caps)) two-three times per day ... so usually averaging about 1800mg per week. I really rate it highly at this dose and have never noticed any negatives.

does the study which extract of PS was used?
funny the daily optimal dose has dropped- when i were a lad and PS was stupidly priced it was always 800mg+, thus making it ridiculously expensive, and people opted for cytadren instead

PS is still stupidly priced - dont know why tho! From what I've been reading recently blunting cortisol isnt all that a great idea.
