To start with we just had a general chat about what i'd been doing to this point, any problem areas for myself or things i'd like to go over, a thorough chat on nutrition and some quick tests for certain deficiencies. Scott gave me a couple sheets outlining a healthy diet and a couple tips and tricks. This lasted a good 30minutes or so and was very painless apart from some screaming brat that turned up so we made a hasty exit to get training.
Before we started that Scott took a my bodyfat measurements, weight, height and a couple shots for his 'sexy clients' handbook. Again this was fairly painless and we kept chatting about training, nutrition and of course random bullshit so we were true to ESN. Then I was thrown in the deep end in the gym with squats, my problem area. Within mere seconds Scott seemed to spot what I was doing wrong and corrected me, continuing till he thought my form was on track then throwing in variations with raised heels and front squatting which was easy to grasp quickly under Scott's instruction. Of course we weren't alone and the gym was thankfully complete with a 100-pound bicep boy close enough to hump the mirror giving it his best.
We continued with getting my form right on some of the more difficult exercises such as Romanian deads, split squats, unrolling flyes and a ton of rehab exercises. Here is where I felt Scott excelled, we went through a number of rehab exercises which were specific to my problems, going over some till I got the hang of form better. It made the session feel very individual rather than Scott telling every client to do the same thing, he listened to what I said, added in his own judgement and showed me how I could fix or improve these weaknesses.
Overall our session lasted nearly 2hrs 30mins which considering i'd only paid for 2hours was very generous! Throughout the session Scott answered every question I asked, which unfortunately for him was a lot and more importantly his answers were backed up by sound reasoning. Aside from this it was very easy to talk to Scott about training, nutrition or just general bullshit as he came across as a relaxed easy going guy with enthusiasm for what he was doing.
Since our session we've kept up communication aswell, Scott provided me with the results of my body composition and gave me feedback on his tests, in terms of what vitamins and minerals I could do with more of and general improvements to diet. He provided a few more little tips of his for quick results as well as thorough documents on the rehab exercises he had shown me. Also worth a mention is the fact hes continued to answer any queries i've had, which again, unfortunately for him are not few in number.
All in all it was a great experience, from the moment I met Scott it was clear to see he knew his stuff judging from his physique and he backed that up with a good knowledge and a rarity in excellent communication skills meaning I was able to grasp form quickly. I'll certainly be having a few more sessions with Scott in the near future and hopefully more still after that, so if you were considering booking a session or two, your mind is now made up
It was good to put a face to the name and Scott was a top bloke, the only downside to the session was on my own part really. Although I feel I have knowledge of a fairly well trained individual, my experience lacks and the session was probably pretty much the usual Scott would experience with a lot of time taken up by squat form etc. I imagine Scott would thrive working with some of the more skilled trainers here on olympics lifts and other general crazy, more advanced shit and people who could challenge his viewpoints more in depth than i could.
It really was a pleasure Scott, cheers mate
*I left out some information on pricing and some specifics such as particular rehab exercises and the tips he provided me with, I feel this would be unfair as it would negate some of the value of training with Scott. However im happy to answer any queries though some things I may have to double check with Scott to make sure its okay I answer
