Olympic Doping Goings On

The guy across from me has been chatting allot about performance enhancement in sport and has allot of interesting stuff to say. He seems very clued up on it all. He was a semi pro cyclist a few years back and was competing against some of the guys in the Olympics just now.

Anyway...he was saying that the pharmacies are starting to fight back now. The cycling doping tests are 100% detectable for EPO as Roche Pharmaceuticals have given the details of a particular part /molecule of epo to the doping people who can now nail anyone on it. He says it looks as if this is the route all the pharmacies are going down as its bad publicity for their products to be sussed in this way.

He was also talking about how there has been a massive drop in the standard of performances, in particular the hilly stages of the tours as this is when the epo doping really kicks in! Cycling have had allot of bad press for doping as they are the only ones who are genuinely trying to clean it up.

Interesting to se how the sprinters get on as that Powell guy has been tested 4 times since the start of the games. they must be on to him. he is saying he wont be able to perform as well as he could because of the amount of blood they have taken....yeh right mate!

Only one person has been done for doping but there has been lots of mysterious drop outs and Pap outs. Both the Williams sisters crashing out of the tennis in the first round being a funny one. you apparently don't get any doping testing in the 1st round of the Olympics tennis.

i think at the highest level whereever there is a test there is a masking agent....and at that level where its alot of cash involved....ull get chemists and all kinds involved in trying to evade tests.....with the new generation of things meant to be coming out..its just going to be worse...

Without a doubt. There already is ways around it but Cycling are bing soo strict that team times are really poor, inparticular the Italians (this is all according to the guy i speak to in work btw)

That Fuentez doctor that got busted was taking x amount of the athletes blood and puting it through a machine that splits up the plasma and red blood cells. The red blood cells are re-injected alone into the athlete a day or whatever before the event giving a mental RBC. If they were informed of testing etc then its jsut a case of having the balance tipped more towards normal levels by reintroducing some of the plasma.

apparently there has been lots of big names visited this doctor...Nadal and beckham are two (despite him being a gynocologist). He was also the team doctor for a few Big spanish clubs one of which being Real Madrid...a fcuking gynocologist as a football team docter??? WTF!!!

Look up operation puerto. Interesting as there is ment to have been bags of blood he had that went missing. Apparently it was ony named with things like the athletes pets name etc.

I believe most of the athletes do AAS in the off season (more orals to avoid detection) along with peptides (HGH fragments, IGF related, MGF, etc...). Probably some designer steroids are also involved. Some years ago when the detection methods where changed on the Tour and some guys started to get caught, full teams suddenly dropped out :D
All that I say is hypothetically speaking and I do not condone the use of illegal substances. You should also eat your vegetables and use high SPF sunscreen

I think blatently in any top sport you'll find off season doping going on.

I much as I'd hate to admit it, Rugby must be a top contender during the off season for those guys to retain their mass given how extreme the sport is on the body. You could say that as more and more athletes are adopting a high protein, low fat and now low carb approach to achieve leaner compositions, is it the use of AAS that us enabling such a diet protocol to be utilised.

And what is the point of it all?????? Everyone is using this shit so is it really cheating? And the IOC will only ban people they dont want to win anyway. If one of their own fails a drug test the that will be pushed aside on the quiet.

As fast as tests are being developed to detect certain drugs new drugs are being developed even faster. Look at the BALCO scandal with THG. Patrick Arnold could already have somethng out there and nobody would know.

I personally see nothing wrong with it. When world records stop being broken, and sports generally become mundane, because everyone is 'natural' people will stop watching. tickets wont be sold and nobody will give a fuck. So who will lose out in the end? the very same people who pushed the athletes to take this shit.

I say let them take it, control it and monitor it.
