I guess so, but I wanna see him progress. I know I would want him to tell me if it was the other way round.

I think all you can do is make a suggestion and not be too pushy..

26/01/2011 Chest & Back

Deads
100 x 10
100 x 10
100 x 10

Bench
90 x 8
95 x 5
80 x 9

Pullups
BW x 12
BW x 10
BW x 8

30 Degree Incline DB press
34 x 12
34 x 11
34 x 10

Hammer Grip Cable Row
6 plates x 15
7 plates x 15
8 plates x 14

Had to cut the session slightly short as gym was closing, but all in all, not bad.

Had a chat with training parter and we're gonna change the days/times we train and agree a 3x full body per week. It's a slight variation on something we've done before and feel it works well.

The basis of it is as follows:

Squat 1 session per week
Deadlift 1 session per week
Leg press and leg curl 1 session per week

Chest hit every session with 1 exercise
Back hit every session with 1 exercise, with the occasional session having 2 exercises

Delts and calves hit every other session
Arms hit every session when delts and calves are not

Do you find you fatigue quite quickly with Bench?

Pretty much.

I'd stick at 3 sets of 8x90kg and work up to 3 sets of 10x90kg before jumping to 95kg. Get the consistency across the sets sorted first.

Agree with Alex. How long are your rests? Take longer ones if necessary.

Usually they're a little longer, but was pressed for time that evening. I will be doing straight sets for now, especially since I'm starting full body.

29/01/11 Full Body

Squats
120 x 8
120 x 8
120 x 8

Bench
90 x 8
90 x 8
90 x 5

Hammer Grip Pulldown
10 plates x 8
10 plates x 8
10 plates x 8

Rope Pushdowns
8 plates x 12
8 plates x 12
8 plates x 12

EZ Preacher Curls
+12.5 x 12
+12.5 x 12
+12.5 x 12

This session made me realise how much I like full body training. Good first session. I will be sticking to straight sets for most of it, as I find it easier to track progress. The name of the game is hit desired reps across all sets move weight up and do the same, avoiding failure where possible due to higher frequency.

That's pretty close to what I used to do when I started training at 14/15, great way to build strength and a good physique/

It's something I've gained well on before and keep coming back to between periods of other types of training. I'm gonna start doing some direct ab and trap work as well, as I need to grow a pair of traps.

I'm gonna give EZ bar shoulder presses a go and see how I find them and I may give those a go as well.

Only way i personally do military these days mate with my homo lady wrists.

Need to elave it a fair few inches short of lock out though (even pause at that sweet spot and squeeze it hard) as the narrow-ish grip brings a lot of triceps in

Its a big front delt burner too so i like to use it as a 2nd weepressign movement so my side head il well fired first else the slightly weaker front head burns out real quick leavign the side head unsatisfied

Are you saying legs twice a week ?
If so I did that and found in knackering to the extent that everything else suffered .
I still do an extra leg workout but relatively light to get the blood flowing and get rid of lactic

I've never tried EZ bar military press but the other week I tried skullcrushers with the EZ bar and when getting in position, my wrists felt like they were in a very natural position, whereas with a straight bar, it just doesn't feel comfortable on the wrists. I'll be switching between DB press and EZ bar military press, and possibly throwing in some EZ bar upright rows in.

In regards to legs, I'll be getting the same amount of volume as I would with doing a split, but the volume will just be spread out over three workouts and will look like this:

Sat: Squats
Mon: Deads
Weds: Leg press and leg curl

This is something I've done before and find it works well.

31/01/2011 Full Body

Deadlift
110 x 6
110 x 6
110 x 6

30 Degree Incline DB Press
40 x 8
40 x 8
40 x 8

Hammer Grip Cable Row
10 plates x 12
11 plates x 10
11 plates x 10

EZ Military Press
+35 x 8
+35 x 8
+35 x 8

Calf Press
10 plates x 12
10 plates x 12
10 plates x 12
10 plates x 12

Hanging Leg Raises
BW x 10
BW x 10

Roman Chair Style Leg Raises
BW x 10
BW x 10

Decent session. Deadlifts shit as usual, I think it may be my form but not sure, just gotta keep working at them. Had a few more left in the tank on all 3 sets of DB presses, so that was nice. EZ bar military presses went well and I quite like them, but nothing beats DB press for shoulders for me. Hanging leg raises didn't feel right so switched to dipping bars and felt a lot better.

Diet was a little different today. Woke up with a sore throat, nose a bit blocked and a bit of a fuzzy head. Didn't fancy the usual oats and whey, but had a craving for cereal so had some oats and honey cereal thing. Pretty good. Another craving for a fry up so had 2 toast, beans, 2 sausages and 2 eggs. On that top of that had two portions of chicken breast, rice and veg. Those cravings were very strange, as I'm not usually one to go for that type of food, cheats for me are usually chinese or a curry.

No, I've had my period this month, so I've no worries that I'm pregnant lol

02//02/2011 Full Body

Leg press
270 x 15
270 x 12
270 x 10

Leg Curl
7 plates x 12
7 plates x 10
7 plates x 10

Bench
90 x 8
90 x 8
90 x 5

Single Arm Plate Loaded Row
60 x 6
60 x 6
60 x 6

Dips
BW x 15
BW x 15
BW x 15

Cable Straight Bar Curls
6 plates x 12
6 plates x 12
6 plates x 12

Leg press was very taxing and I think my bench may have suffered as a result. Training partner had to touch bar very slightly on 8th rep of second set, really annoyed. Other than that a decent workout.

Looking forward to tomorrow's workout. I got 3 sets of 8 on incline DB press, didn't go failure. Should I go for more reps with same weight or move up and try to go for 3 sets of 5/6?

Pissed off this morning. Training partner and I decided we'd train early morning every Monday, so it fits around both of our schedules. He text me this morning saying he'd gone to sleep early but only got about 4 hours sleep (?), so didn't feel up to it. Anyway, got it with it and it was a decent workout. Tried something diferent with deads and it was pretty decent. I must admit though, that deads do feel a bit uncomfortable for me on the lower back and as far as I'm aware, my form is decent, so I dunno what it could be?
