What weight were you fighting at? How did you get into MMA? And if you don't mind me asking... How much did you get paid for the fight?

I was fighting at 82kg (middleweight), my club has a team, nothing :) its only semi-pro, if I had done pro then I would of gotten £200.

Semi Pro's still get paid - so you're an amateur - nothiong wrong with that and actually, even more power to you for doing that for nought. Although I think boxing is harder than cuddling on the floor :mrgreen:

Depends what event you do when you get paid, there was only one pro fight there so they got paid, where there was half a dozen semi-pro fights, and it would of been expensive to pay all the fighters :)

We say two things;

1. If it doesnt work.. its Taekwondo
2. Boxing.. i'll just kick you in the head

Boxing has nothing on mma :)
If you're not sure if you're getting quality sleep or not, this is your standard: You should always wake up under a teepee. If you don't have a boner so solid you have to do a handstand to take a morning piss, your Testosterone levels are probably low.

Very impressed with your nuts young Matt. Hopefully we'll see you against stronger competition in the future.

About the pro/semi-pro thing, well professional means it's what you do for a living, semi means half, so a semi-pro is a person that can live partially off of what he does. The definition of amateur sports is that you do not receive payment to participate. :)

Matt

If you ever want a display of brutal fighting, I'm quite happy bash you around the ring and I'll pay you for the pleasure, so you can consider yourself a pro after, albeit a very sore one... ;)

I think the real value of that first fight is the confidence from the win and, perhaps more importantly, the experience of the situation that it gives... you clearly kept your focus and performed as you had to. Any poor decisions you may have made during the fight were inevitable as a newb, but you did well and now you know what you need to improve on and for your team work on... and the evolution of a fighter begins! Will be interesting to see in a few years how far you take this.

Excellent stuff MJ!
