Have used a herbal blend containing small quantities of it for a short while. It I think does have adaptogenic/stress relieveing/mood improving properties... i did notice also increased morning wood with it so it does boost things that way.
Is worth mentioning though that maca has active ingredients that act as a MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor), so can potentially have negative interactions with foods containing more than trace levels of the aminos tyrosine and tryptophan. It can also have possible interactions with certain medications, particularly antidepressants (pretty much all kinds of them).
The likelyhood of such an issues with Maca is very very small though as the levels of active MAOI are tiny... not at all like taking a prescribed MAOI but still worth noting.
