Loading OKG

Postby Alex on Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:19 pm

I tried out an experiment loading OKG at 30g a day for 3 days and then running at a maintanance level of around 12g daily for 2 weeks to compare against a daily dose of 20g.

I found that OKG strength related gains came in very quickly within 2 days which were comparable to around 7 days of normal dosing. I also noted that at the lower maintainance dose there after, I felt very similar to if I ran with 20g right the way through.

So it would seem that for almost instant gains an initial spiked dose over a few days seems to work followed by a lower maintainance level over a period of 14 days.

My next test will be to see how this runs over a 4 week period.

Ive noticed that takin it for more than 4 weeks is a waste of money...for me at least...when you compare gains versus cost.

First 3 weeks seem to be where its at...then a rest of 3-4 weeks

I found this also. Awesome strength gains for 3-4 weeks and then everything seems to stall...

I agree a 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off would offer optimal bang for buck.

To be honest I only ever experienced steady gains with the stuff although with a forced week off then back on I did notice it kick in again.

I've ran out again early in the week so will see how I react when back on it.

i need to get my hands on some of this at some point running up to comp. It just sounds amazing alex, are you using 2:1 or 1:1???

OKG, creatine, taurine, cittriline malate would be a killer combo. What i intend on getting my hands on in next few weeks. Got 5kilos of whey coming through too! Exams not too far away so can get job after that.

Yes that would make an awesome combo, I've been using the same, though with Beta Alanine instead of CM.

2:1 Ash otherwise it's only good for the bin.

I stack with:

OKG 5g
AAKG 5g
Citrulline Malate 3g
D Ribose 4g
Beta Alanine 4g
Taurine 5g

This is truely an awesome pre workout stack.

I'd say no to be honest. OKG for low reps, BA for high reps, at least 12 and over... aswell as general endurance and cardio.

With OKG, yes.

The others, as you already suspect, are helpfull more for lactic build up and repping.

I would say that D Ribose will really benefit your energy levels through your workout.

interesting, maybe i will get the creatine, taurine, OKG and d ribose (i suffer from lethargy quite alot). Shames OKG and ribose are quite expensive though, but if it will help me attempt to win something i want very badly then its in!

You'd ideally load D Ribose as well.

2g in the morning, 2g pre and 2g post works well.

I think maybe Alex's 3-5 day high dose...30g and then back to 15g till the end of 3 weeks may be an idea..may give that a shot soon

Ash, poliquin rates BA for use at higher intensity, 85% max and over. BA seems to work well right through all intensity levels, as well as in all muscle fiber types.......and also for any kind of discipline!

It does a bit of everything really.

The ribose, as others have said would be a good bet for powerlifting...anything that improves levels of energy substrates....

The ribose/BA/creatine combo would also have synergy.

Ribose is great stuff.

I notice the difference when I'm not on it.

Ribose is a great stuff did get it from bioenergy I just need to take 5 gram after a 10 k it makes me feel good and recovered faster. How much do you usualy take Alex and kp?

Apparently we may have an optimum effect by using the OKG as bollus such as twice 10 grams a day instead of 4 times 5 grams, only an idea from papers never tried it myself so can't be objective about this sup. But I am really interested by the strength enhancing properties. Do you have any idea of the mechanism involved to boost the strength ?
