Cheers rich. Reckon i could do about half that right now.

Funny how I planned to take a deload this week and i get majorly struck down. Ive had a bad case of herpes around and IN my eye for a good 4 days, been the worse thing ever. It's feeling a lot better today, no thanks to my quack.

I go the doctors pretty aware of what it is, started with a tingle corner of my eye, blistered, went into my eye. Ive got a history of cold sores around my eyes. Mr Doc wouldn't have it, 'no, it's bacterial conjunctivitis'. I took his bacterial cream thinking maybe he's right. Two days later it's getting worse, feels like my eye is covered in cuts, in pretty constant pain. I go the eye hospital out of desperation, he has a look at it through his big eye machine, 'yep, you've got a viral eye infection'. I get the anti viral eye drops i wanted 4 days ago and eye is much better today!

What annoys me is the way the quack just disregarded what i had to say in a second. That sore in the corner of my eye that started as a tingle..'oh its dry skin', nice one doc. Herpes in the eye can lead to permanent scarring of the cornea and vision loss, that's what could have happened if i blindly followed his advice!

I do believe that's quacks- 0, Karl- 2. The 1st being that i didn't have torn knee cartilage and just needed some nsai's.

As per my earlier post I think a complaint - You could have ened up with damaged eyesight - Who knows what else he's doing wrong - This may be a one off but is it fair on others if you don't complain.

We had a doctor at out local health centre who was a bit iffy - I didn't mind 'cos I used to just tell him what I 'knew' I needed and would just get it. But that was wrong tbh.

But then he badly misdiagnosed my daughter, and it was only 'cos my wife knew a doctor at the local hospital and asked her what she thought that things didn't go really bad- the 2nd doctor admitted my daughter straight into hoispital, had an operation (minor) and was on an antibitoic drip for best part of a week - She could have died if we hadn't got the 2nd opinion.

We complained and it turned out he was getting other stuff worng and pissing of other patients - He's now gone.

Don't know if our specific complaint was what caused his leaving, but I'm sure it contributed - And who knows, if we hadn't complained he could have carried on making mistakes.

So complain, at the very least it may make him buck his ideas up.

I do kind of understand where he was coming from. The coldsore lesion is very small and my eye did look exactly like conjunctivitis. The only thing he did wrong was too quickly disregarding my point and not checking my records - i've got a history of herpes around my eyes.

Don't think i'll bother making a complain, plus he's not my usual GP anyway. I reckon my GP would have referred me to St pauls eye hospital just to be sure.

Write a complaint, then escalate it if you're not happy with their response.

I'm having to do a similar thing with an NHS dentist at the moment. Never again...I'd rather throw money at it and go private.

Your apathy may cause someone else harm - it's worth doing mate.

My case was probably worse mind you. The guy was completely incompetent, numbed the side on which he was going to do the filling, then dug around a bit and said - "actually that side doesn't need a filling, the other side does". I got out of the chair there and then, gave him an earful, got a refund and promptly left.

Today I've had a filling in the top part of my mouth. The bottom was absolutely fine! Unbelievable incompetence. To make matters worse on my initial consultation he took an x-ray with the machine still against the wall before realising! I can't be the only one and plan to take him down.

After 8 days of sedentary-ism, junk food and illness, was finally back in the gym today! :D Im pretty pleased i got ill when i did because i had a planned deload anyway.

Session 1

Usual warmup, mobility and stretches.

A1.Conv Deadlifts *NEW*

Double OH
50 x 8
100 x 5
120 x 5
140 x 3
160 x 3
Mixed grip
180 x 3 - this felt awful, mixed grip totally threw my form off.
*pondered what to do for a few minutes*
Hook grip
140 x 5 x 3 - thumb bled through nail alittle. Ouch.

decided i'm going to sacrifice deadlift weight for a while to really get into hook grip. Mixed grip stopped my getting low and it felt way too 'backy'.

Any idea how long it will take for my thumbs to toughen up? I figure if i just add 10kg a week, hopefully in 6 weeks time i'll be hook gripping 200kg.

A2.Hammer grip chins

bwx 5
+5 x 5
+10 x 5 x 5

Taking it easy.

Muscle clean to push press*NEW*

20 x 5
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5 x 3

Traded strict press for push version. easy.

B1. Strict OH press and hold

50 x 5 x 2

B2. bent over DB raise

7.5 x 12 x 2

C1. Cuban rotation

bar x 10 x 2

C2. L-sit Partial chins

bw x 9 x 2

An alright session. I'm just hoping my thumbs will get used to hook grip so i can start pulling 200+ fairly quickly.

Nice idea with the hook grip but im sure the problem with the mixed grip was just not being used to the convo position and the feel. I found this when I switched from trap bar to convos.

I had to start the pull higher to stop my left elbow bending. Up to 180kg when i had to switch to mixed grip felt fine. Nice low hip position, straight arms. I think it will be an investment anyways, being able to hook grip will be beneficial to all oly movements too.

Did some power oriented sprints and jumps yesterday, felt good.

Session 2

A1.Dynamic RDLs

50 x 4
60 x 4
80 x 4
90 x 4
100 x 4 x 5

Decided to do these as my primary speed lift. First rep was a normal deadlift to get it into place. They Felt good, nice hip thrust.

A2. Single leg power hump

5 x 5

bit of extra glute actvation.

B1. Reverse BB lunge*NEW*

bar x 10 (each leg)
40 x 10 x 3

Just getting into them today, felt alittle wobbly, but they worked me hard at the same time.

B2. Elevated ring pushups

bw x 8
+10 x 10,10,8

pretty damn brutal.

B3. DB rows (both arms, unsupported)

17.5 x 10
27.5 x 10 x 3

Alittle too light, not too worried as it's 1st week back.

Incline hammer DB curls

17.5 x 8 x 3

Tough bicep exercise, good for the long head, brachialis and forearms!

Although i took it quite easy today, i was sweating and panting like a lil bitch from the tri-set.

Reverse lunges at 8-12 reps with short rests is so hard work. :)

That's going to hurt mate :)

I'm sure you'll get used to it over time, taping the ends of your thumbs with athletic tape will protect them a bit. Do you hook grip for anything else? power snatches?
