Postby Wardie on Tue Mar 04, 2008 10:06 pm

What do you guys reckon of this truely brutal squat routine.

It should be performed with approximately 30% of your 1RM. Yes, that does mean squatting without racking the weight.

Session 1.2: (Thursday) 1 x 2:20

Week 2

Session 2.1: (Monday) 1 x 2:40
Session 2.2: (Thursday) 1 x 3 minutes

Week 3

Session 3.1: (Monday) 1 x 3:20
Session 3.2: (Thursday) 1 x 3:40

Week 4

Session 4.1: (Monday) 1 x 4 minutes
Session 4.2: (Thursday) 1 x 4:20

Week 5

Session 5.1: (Monday) 1 x 4:40
Session 5.2: (Thursday) 1 x 5 minutes

Week 6

Session 6.1: (Monday) 1 x 5:30
Session 6.2: (Thursday) 1 x 6 minutes

Week 7

Session 7.1: (Monday) 1 x 6:30
Session 7.2: (Thursday) 1 x 7 minutes

Week 8

Session 8.1: (Monday) 1 x 7:30

I am going to add this to my DC training...I can see soo much bloody sense in this......need to tweak it slightly as some weeks do legs twice a week...but will be interesting!

Good post!

Yea that's what I was thinking... Not quite sure how I'd modify it, but it definately got me thinking. I also think my legs would respond well to this kind of training (heh, stating the obvious :P), they seem to have very good endurance...

I'm thinking about doing it for my squats with this new HIT routine.

Imagine the pain if you made it to 8 minutes (not that many people would). I would say this seperates the men from the boys, but it's more like the clinically insane from the rest.

Bollocks to it, i'm starting this tomorrow!

I'll only be squatting once every 9 days rather than the twice a week, but it'll still be amusing i'm sure.

If you read it, it is basically HIT.

I'll be doing it on my legs day, where I would normally be doing 1 set of squats to failure. I'll more than likely fail before the two minutes anyways and i'll only be doing one set so it makes quite a lot of sense to me.

It also uses slow negatives and explosive positives, just like i'll be doing with practically everything else in HIT.

Seems fine to me?

Wardie i have read it its not HIT. HIT is about failure that is about squating for time, very different. Muslce failure and muscle fatigue are different things

Id think that doing ONE all out set would work really well per week...with the remianing two movememnts.....as long as you dont add any more...I can see something like this of value....plus I think doing it more than 4-6 weeks in a row may provde a little stalemate?

I suppose so.

Legs are known for generally responding better to being trained more frequently, I just feel it would be a quite sensible addition and I can't see any way if which it wouldn't benefit me.

I think this woild require a serious amount of focus....I mean 2 mins is fine (he says)...but fecking hell....more than that..and I can relate to feeling sick...and nauseus on this.......

Im even tempted to give it a shot today.....Ill give it a go with I think 60kg

I think my 1RM on squat is about 190-210k right now..so lets see what happens!

I can imagine 2 minutes at 30% is not too bad, if you do a set of 20 or something it must be taking close to a minute anyways? To be fair i'm not sure how long a set takes when squatting i've not throught about it.

well I go two sets on DC style...a 6-8 all out, and then a 20 rep widow maker..now the Widow maker is bad enough I tell ya....as by ten reps you kind of need to pause at top.....but this beast would just be another level i think.....especially when you break 3 mins and over....I can image serious breathing pressure!...just my cuppa tea!

I just like the intense pain that comes from High Intensity movements...even if its sustained....little, yet long, yet hard....thats what sumes this session up.......

I think a similar minded training partner would be invaluable for this.... especially when you start breaking 3 mins!!!

well I did it...bloody hell makes you wonder though the strength difference between fast twitch and slow twitch

I stuck on 65kg total and could only manage 1min 50 and got 36 reps....then moved onto leg ext and had 50kg total for 2 x 30reps, then stiff leg deadlifts.

not sure how tomorrow will be..but bloody hell 8mins I will have to shit myself I think!

I was dissappointed I didnt manage 2 mins to be honest....after like 25 things slowed down (again goes to show my lack of slow twitch fibre capability? or maybe I used to much weight...I dont know...)

The worse is coming up and having to take a breather...the first lot I did very fluid and no stops at the top.....that took me to about 18-21 if I remember....but now I know what to expect next week will be payback!!

That's gonna hurt in the mornin' son ;)
