I think the aim is to get the most work done in the alloted time, and to make the movement fluid...the risk of pacing yourself would mean less work to a degree?....

Is what I thought but was also thinking about how to approach a first time 'testing the water' session. Yep, straight in the deep end is the most fun anyway...
