Help with Honeymoon & Budget

Postby Rab on Thu Feb 18, 2010 8:54 pm

Trying to get Ideas for a Honeymoon. Want to get it sorted out in the next wee while. Not for over a year but its gonna cost so getting a plan aint a bad idea

The dragon wants to go a Caribbean Cruise, but its outwith our budget i think as its about £1400 each full board. You then have drink and all your excursions and lunch out and about every destination - so another £1000 maybe. Cant afford!

The budget is £3k in total. Bit crass to talk about the money but the thread would be pointless if there wasnt a budget in mind

I was looking more along the lines of something like Thailand or Goa (in that order) as its gonna cost to get there but when there the money would go much further? I have no idea of that budget is possible for that though

Any other suggestions?

You're too young for a cruise, real crap idea!

After your wedding it's just nice to go somewhere and chill, so your idea seems cool

So the cruise mate! its shite! really unless your like over 50! or Ressie

Recommend half board or full board Maldives mate hands down.

Really good, get a pick of the islands, and alot to do depending how lazy you want the break to be.

You should be able to get a good deal with that cash for Maldives with a stop in Dubai maybe....depending on time of year.....might have to ad another 500 ish worse case outside a package...

Bare in mind you'll spend money on your honeymoon regardless of what you set out to do.

Mexico and Cuba will be reasonable. Hawaii wasn't too expensive either but exchange rate still isn't brilliant.

Cruises aint what they used to be with all old buggers. Lots more younger folk on them now and different ships to suit what your after. My mate also mid 20s is going a med cruise for his honeymoon. Might be right though about carribean ones?

I should have added that we aint ones for lasy "beach holidays" so the likes of the maldives etc are out. we like to be kept busy at least some of the time which is why i think Thailand as you have loads to do, but also have the relaxation option?

Maybe Mexico as i imagine there would be quite a lot to do and I recon you could get a good price for all inclusive to suit the budget?

Egypt is good but heat is an issue at times and the hoarding and haggling that you need to do or be aware is a must - or else youll get ass raped there. Ahh and dont let your better half walk about alone...men have an issue there with keeping there thoughts and opinions and actions to themselves.

Went to Egypt years ago. Wasn't bad but a bit limited as to where you can go outside of the tourist bits.

Egypt would be good for a cruise up the Nile from Cairo to Aswan - not at all like a 50+ carribean tour. The chance to see the Pyramids at Giza, Valley of the Kings & all that is worth doing as it's stunning. Otherwise there's the beach resort Hurghada which is good for being lazy. I'd definitely do a package in Egypt if you want a hassle free trip though.

Thailand has great beaches in the South and a few lovely islands. Phuket or Ko Sami are great, although some prefer Bangkok and Pattaya in the north which might be preferable for more 'urban' nightlife.

Best place I've ever been for a combination of chilled out exotic stuff, interesting things to do in the day, and as much nightlife as you want is Rio de Janiero. Might not be right time of year though due to rainy season. Cheap as chips when you get there, but be a 'subtle' tourist - flashy expensive cameras and mobile phones and you'll be a pick pocket magnet.

For something unusual, Vietnam has amazing beaches - and often totally unspoilt. Similarly, beach resorts in Kenya are worth a look (but that means lots of vaccinations). No idea on Goa but is a place I'd love to check out. Cuba not been either but have heard good things.

Mexico great nightlife :D

I went to Taba Heights about 4-5 years ago & had a fantstic time.

It is great for a relaxing holiday, golf course, diving, plenty of excursions. If you want to know more PM me.
