Also:

Romanian deads...I find them far better at targetting the hams than SLDLs.

What are those psycho ones called where you anchor the feet, bend knee's and then proceed to lower your bodyweight from the knees and then back up? Possibly the ultimate test of hamstring strength?

I know the ones you mean. You can use a smith machine bar and a bench for these. I get really bad cramp whenever I tried to do these so I don't bother now.

glute ham raise? probably won't beable to do them. RDLs are the ultimate exercise for glutes and hams imo.

Kneeling leg curls. Eccentric only training works well on these. Just lower as slowly as possible.....

Killer!

With lying leg curls, you could try dorsi flexing (toes up)your ankle on the concentric and plantar flexing (toes pointing away) on the eccentric. This basically recruits the gastrocnemius to assist on the concentric allowing greater loads to be used on the eccentric. Same principle as zottman curls in essence. Stretching the quads (antagonists) will help recruit more motor units too.

...I'm guessing it's pointless on this forum to mention that both functions of the hams (as a knee flexor and hip extensor) should be worked......

Sorry, have been posting on MP...am still in dumbed down mode......

I seem to get a really decent ham workout when I just squat wide.

Interesting, I'm going to try that next time.

No that's what people too lazy to train their hammy's say ;)

It's like saying I don't train biceps because they get worked hard enough from my rows... bollocks they do!

Yesterday i blew my hamstrings with hyper extensions with a 20kg plate, followed by a set on the leg press on about 280kg with my feet as far up the plate as they would go, this hits the hamstrings harder i find.

Then a few sets on the lying leg curl to finish.
