hammoTT Intro

Postby hammoTT on Thu Oct 02, 2008 11:12 am

Hi all, not really a seasoned forum'er but there we go. I am not really a weight gain trainer but more focused on the sports side of things. I have done my first season of club time trialling on my bike and am now looking to extend this to completing my first triathlon next summer.

I am really interested to hear any advice or thoughts on supplementing and training for these as I have done a lot of looking aound but there is so much out there it is tough to see the wood from the trees. Most of the work I have been doing so far has been quite event related and I only really venture into the gym for 1 sessions of circuit training a week. Other than that I will shift around 4 sessions of swimming/running/riding depending on weather etc..

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

Cheers

Hi hammoTT

Welcome to the forums

What would you say are your goals in preparation for the event next summer?

Do you have any other goals that youd like to achieve outside of prep of the above relating to your fitness?

In essence the key goals are strength and endurance. The first triathlon I am looking at is a sprint so 400m-20km-5km but I am just trying to find the balance of where I need to be in the pool, or on the bike for example or whether it is worth reducing down elements and spending more time developing leg and upper body strength in the gym. It feels like quite a busy schedule of activities to be training for and I suppose my main strengths at the minute are on the bike so that is getting some attention but no as much as swimming for example.

I suppose if anyone has any advice on good exercises for cutting corners..ie activites that work out for 2 events then that might be useful.

Sorry if this not exactly focused stuff..just trying to get my head round a sensible training/nutritional diet plan for the next 6 months.

Cheers.

Welcome :D

I was one up in the wee hours having to sort out my infant little girl. Flicked the box to find the traithlon on C5 which made me groan before I settled down to watch the most relaxing bit of telly ever. Those guys look in the zone but they get to run about some beautiful places.

Welcome mate!

Ever noticed guys tend to be better at nearly every sport? The male and female body is really similar (besides the obvious), the main difference comes with hormones, with the male being testosterone dominant, this hormone makes the male stronger than the female all other things being equal.

Now think about it does strength help in sport........................ maybe even in sports you'd not considered it an advantage at all ;)

Welcome to the forums, great to see someone with difference goals on the forum.

If you decide to post a journal, I for one, would be very interested to read it.

Hi & welcome

What sort of training are you doing atm - Also what is your background in any of the 3 disciplines?
