Good camping food?

Postby Spit on Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:26 am

I'm more after inspiration than nutritional insight here... going camping tomorrow and looking for ideas of stuff to cook on what will probably be quite a crappy portable stove- something fairly cool would be good (there's a girl involved) but nothing too techy, I'm a fairly good cook but will be limited by my tools on this occasion.

Why dont you cook a mexican! May end up getting arrested for cannibalism but it would be a camping trip the girl would never forget.

Pre prep most of the food or take a wok and do a stir fry.

Disposable BBQ then you can cook pretty much what you like.

For just a weekends camping/nookie this is the way to go... and cook her something you know she likes.

For longer trips involving strenuous trekking about, dehydrated stuff like supernoodles and then tins of oily fish make a good fuel, as do the really sugary energy bars that you can get (not that healthy but a great fuel to nibble on whilst walking).

Of course you could always go hunting and show her your 'man skills' by catching her something...

Does herpes count?

Seriously, disposable BBQ is a good idea, nice one- I can do good salmon on that, and some spuds and veg to go with it. I think we have a winner. 8-)

Ha ha, if that impresses her I'd be a bit worried to be honest... :D

Tins of beans...baknes or tins of tescos mixed ones in a hot & spicy sauce. All you need is a wee pot and a tiny flame to heat those bad boys.

packs of bacon. dont take much cooking either and dont go off too quickly

Bacon and beans- if that's your idea of a romantic dinner for two then we're not going on any more dates. :?

No nookie alas, she has a boyfriend it turns out ( :x ), but had a great time anyway so mustn't grumble. Gained mad props from our fellow campers by carrying a glowing, burger-covered disposable BBQ back to our site from the beach when it started raining 8-)

What sort of chick goes on a camping weekend when she has a boyfriend?

Very odd...

I've reached the conclusion that women, by and large, are absolute crackheads.

There's a great saying I once heard that sums this up perfectly; "Women are mad. All of them. Even your Mum."
