Glute Ham Raises

Postby GymBunny on Wed Feb 11, 2009 6:19 pm

My gym doesn't have a machine anymore. This is a pain as it is an awesomely awesome excercise. Thanks to a lass on another forum I can now share these "do it yourself" glute ham raises. Enjoy.

Nice. Girl in the last vid looks hot. Have thought about how I could rig something up to do those here at home... look like a good exercise and have never actually done them before.

I used to do them like that chap in the first vid but found even with some sponge or matting they really hurt my knees to the point it felt like it could be doing some damage.

I've tried the last variation in the past but it used to make my Hams cramp up in a big way after a couple of reps.

I can see you being good at these GB, and excellent post.

I, however, will stay away. I know what I am like. I would end up in a crumpled heap broken in half!

If you put a step/block in front of the pulldown machine where your hands would land then you're reducing the distance you have to plummet; you're really just dropping down into a press-up position. This is how I've always seen them done in the past, makes more sense to me (although I wouldn't argue with the girl in the last vid, probably just dribble my agreement with whatever the hell she said...)

Thanks GB I've been thinking about finding a way to do these recently. I'll give the last method a go.

Oh that's awesome GB. You are on fire today!

I tried these the other day and was absolutely diabolically crap at it....so using bands to assist is a superb idea.
