Timeouts galore for me today! Site running VERY slow... only this site, all others running fine.

EDIT - seems to have gone a bit better in last few mins, was awful earlier on.

I noticed it for about 30 mins earlier.....I THINK there is a server backup happening at that time...but Ill monitor it, and if its worse and pain..will ask them to see if they can change it...

Earlier on I had a timeout but I was on my mobile at the time trying to reply in a thread - I hate text typing though.

More than likely. CRON Jobs are a likely cause. Plus time difference for US based server.

no the site is hosted in UK now..in a Berkshire datacentre..hence why the timeouts and speed of the board increased when moved over....but I think a backup maybe be set at an odd time.....as the server is on a very fast backbone...

Ive increased the PM limit to 150 as 50 was just too small and the amount of data that a single PM takes, even if it has a number of paragraphs is minimal. Cant see it cause an issue in the slightest

thanks Res..noted.

basically at the end of the month I get a !downtime! report which allows us to view trends...I also had about 25 mins yesterday of not accessing the board...but what really pissed me off is that I used a VPN gateway via another provider and it worked...yet on my home line..it didnt....very strange

I had a problem between about 1130 & 1300...Internal server error I think was the message.

Why can I not edit any post I've made?

There seems to be a time limit on Editing.

For example, I can no longer edit my first post in the Greens group buy. That would be useful for me. I think editing any of your posts is a good thing. I can't see many people abusing it; why bother.

Shouldn't be any time limitation.

Does the edit button display but not work?

Yes there is...10 days (14440 mins).....

(Sorry Alex, this was something I set at the start )

But happy to change this if need be?..Increase it?

Reason for having this is

- so old posts can remain there, and can only be deleted ot changed by Mods
- So if your account security is compromised, noone can actually come in and be a twat onyour previous posts
- So there theres some overall control on threads
