First comp write up.

After sweating a little in the car because I wasn't 100% about my weight, I weighed in easily at 72.2 kg. I warmed up a little early but I was pretty comfortable squatting 130 kg. But this got 2 reds and a white, and nobody really knew what for. James asked the side judge, and she said it was because I "looked wobbly." This seems weird because surely when they gave me the command to squat they acknowledged that I was ready to squat. I only just got my second attempt card in on time (we only had 1 minute, which sucked). Anyway, I got 2 whites and a red (middle ref, for a double movement) on my second attempt at 130 and went for a PB at 142.5. That went up pretty easily, and I think the harsh call on the first attempt cost me a few kgs.

Maybe I just like whining, but my first attempt benching was pretty unfortunate too. The loader who gave me the hand off handed it to me and then just stood there, so the ref couldn't give me the command to start. This didn't really affect much though, I got 77.5 3 whites, 82.5 3 whites and then 87.5 was just too heavy and nothing would have changed that.

Deadlift I got a big PB of 185, and it was pretty fast too. I was a bit too conservative here.

I totalled 410 kg, which isn't bad. Diego Martinez won my group easily, but I can't remember what he totalled. Samual Welsh got 137.5/105(?)/180 and just beat me to second place.

A symbolic moment.

Thanks guys :) Ash, I can see what you mean. The funny thing was they were actually pretty lenient about hitching the deadlifts for some of the other guys. My deadlift was clean as a whistle of course ;)

And here's a picture of me and Ader. Ader's brother had a good comp and set some PBs himself, but I can't remember his exact lifts. Great guy, always smiling.

I never realised you were competing in the BWLA, they do there comps close (compared to every where else) to where I live. I might join you at your next comp then.

Btw my bro's comp went like this:

Squat
- 150 - easy starter he pretty much went ATG to make sure it passed
- 165 - 3 whites
- 175 - 3 whites and a PB

Bench
- 100 - failed becasue he didn't wait for teh start signal - but went up easy - Idiot
- 105 - 3 whites - He had wanted to go 112 for his 2nd but couldn't risk it 'cos of 1st failure
- 117.5 - He wanted to go for a PB - A big jump but wanted to have a go - failed miserably

Deadlift
- 180 - OK
- 205 - OK
- 215 -Went for a PB but only managed to move it 6/8 inches

So he ended up with a 485 total - 10Kg less than last competition - But he should really have gone for a 110 bench and a 210 or 212 dead - He just wanted to go for broke!

He came 3rd (out of 3) in the Masters 1 under 90KG - If he hadn't been guaranteed 3rd - he wouldn't have gone for the crazy PB attempts.

He enjoyed it though and lessons were learnt!

ps- Spotting for your brother in warm up + 1 or 2 other guys doesn't half wear you out - I was really achey when I got up on Sunday!

pps - Brother went in a relay race on Sunday and did a 1.8m run - Apparently not too fast!
