Finally a step in the right direction

Postby Marks1972 on Thu Sep 25, 2008 12:44 pm

Finally managed to get a contact number for someone that runs the weightlifting club about 15 miles away, from the website i could never work out if it was still going or not as the website didnt look like it had been updated for a good year or so.

Guy at worked mentioned that he thought there was a small club in a sports/social club near him so gave them a ring and got the number of a chap called Alan Ottilangue (probably spelt that way wrong), nice bloke, told me that theres 10 lads powerlifting there and that hes off to the US to compete in the World's.

Sounds like just what i need.. bit of a drive from home but if i want to take the next step this sounds ideal :)

Aye that is a step up. Training with powerlifters can only benefit you.

Maybe I missed something, but didn't you decide your body couldn't handle PLing? I thought you'd gone BB on us.

I think it might be mate. Double check the ipf rulebook to make sure though. BWLA then is it? BDFPA don't have much on these days.

Reading the little site the gym has
http://letchworthcornersportsclub.co.uk ... x.php?id=3
..bit out of date but looks like its BWLA affiliated.

Quite excited about getting up there to talk to the chaps, shame hes away for the world's then im away at centerparcs (which is almost the same thing) so i wont actually be able to tie up with him till mid october, but at least i know i have somewhere local (ish) that i can train with other powerlifters, learn where im going wrong and start competing proper.

That looks like a good gym Mark. Dont you dare go back to next Gen. This would be against all the principals of the Elite. :)

The other good thing about that place is the divisional comp is held there. You have an impressive base to which you can build upon. Maybe one day we'll see each other on the platform in the near future ;)
