England Rugby Team - Changes Needed

Postby simon m on Sat Feb 05, 2011 9:11 am

I think last night demonstrated that the England team is far from dynamic and these are the charges I would make:

Back Row

Without Lewis Moody we don't have a wing forward you can secure first phase ball and put the opposition half backs under pressure. Therefore we should bring in Chris Robshaw at open side, I'd also want Luke Narraway in the back Row

Centres

Where do I begin? Our centre pairing is a joke and stifles creativity. Bring in Billy Twelvetrees and Nick Abendanon and you'll score many more tires than you'll concede.

The rest of te team I quite like, but I'd start with Simon Shaw in tight games

I couldnt believe this was placed on BBC1 !!

Simon my southern rugby pal - sorry I gave it 10 minutes and then after seeing logs of kicking and poor passing I turned off .

Any idea what should be a good game to watch as I was pretty bored ( sorry)

It was boring and there's too much aimless kicking with shite basic skills. Club games are better than internationals.

The best sport is Rugby Sevens, watch that mate, you'll love it.

I'm a big league fan and former London Broncos season ticket holder, plus I used to write from the club mag Game On and London's Calling, so I know what you're saying.

Sevens should be a big hit for the Olympics.

Twickers?

I heard a rumour that once Sevens is established for the Games the IRB Series will be discontinued which sounds strange.

No idea but this was some time ago before they got the Olympics.

You getting allocation or just buying when they become available?

Might just go on the day as it's easy to get tickets. I'd want a nice warm day though out in the Sun.

Yeah the team definitely needs some changes. I'm off to see England get thrashed by France at Twickers this weekend. Why do they always bloody lose when I actually have tickets for a match?!?

Lys

They won't lose to France, but they do need a proper centre partnership to beat better teams.

If I had know you were going I would have acceptd a ticket from Zurcih Insurance - too bloody late now :x

I hope they won't lose but I'm not betting on it. Ahh, I didn't realise you might be going. I'm going with my Da, we'll get drunk and be appalling. It's gonna be great! :D

I don't think the team needs big changes. But Si is right about the centres; get them right and the team will be VERY good.

Yep, not far form the finished article.

What Johnson seems top be doing is having a hard takling centre pairing so people have to go at us outwide, but I think he's wrong. You need a balanced mid field and ours is one dimensional

Yeah I think that's about all that can be said about that match. Looking forward to the game today although as I'm still on the come down from St Paddy's Day I think it'll be rather sedate.

We haven't won in Dublin since the 2003 Grand Slam so it'll be interesting and a tough match.

Wow, what a rubbish display - well done Ireland. England has to chnage the team dramatically now. Easter is shocking as were the centres.

^^ not gonna happen. Too late to change with only a few months to go to world cup.

tbh Ireland brought they A game and def deserved the win. They've had 4 shit games and with the talent they have it was only a matter of time before they put a great performance together.

England will now hopefully learn and grow from this. They got it very wrong, but time to move on. Young's has had 2 bad games in a row and if he was playing better it wouldn't have been sooo bad.

I loved the leaking of the nike grandslam video:

Better yet is the new video...

Disappointing we only showed up on the last day of the tournament really, triple crown would have be nice had we bothered to play in Wales and had we not been screwed also. Hell had D'Arcy not been run over the grandslam was a possibility while playing dire! Think Ireland need to be very concerned with the prop situation, I thought Healy was lucky to get away with some of the scrums unpunished in the england game
